How clever are you?

When that TV show first appeared "Test the Nation" I did the IQ test and scored 105.

Average intelligence supposedly ranges from 90-110.

The next year I did it and I scored 111, which confirmed I am in the top end of average category and have proved this by learning how to take an IQ test.

Without being too rude the way I would judge IQ in the standard tests would be to take 100 as a baseline normal and add an expected score of +1 per birthday.

In other words a person of 47 should have a median I! of 147.

Now EQ thats another matter and one that is far more important.........

And answering the OP I dont see myself as clever but I have been mildly criticised for not allowing for other people not understanding a subject .

I envy people who can fix mechanical things and would dream of being able to build stuff effectively.

Everyone is clever in their own way and to suggest otherwise is arrogant and self-limiting in terms of a value system.

Ahhh i feel better now.

i used to make my own amplifiers - my job is engineering, although i'm currently unemployed.

my IQ is 115 - average i think. IQ means absolutely nothing. it's a vauge generalisation of too many subjects. my uncle is dyslexic, had his own business (joinery) and made enough money.

his IQ was 65, going of the tests.

Exactly my point.

As way of measuring intelligence IQ is one of many.

I have spent days trying to 'educate' some of the brightest new graduates in the ways of working with others as they simply dont get it.

So how bright are they away form a specific subject on which they have regurgitated other peoples ideas.

Give me a man who thinks afresh and I will give you ideas that change things for the better.

I had my PhD confirmed at the weekend. However, the university tell me that I'm now the proud holder of a doctorate in 'Australian Biophysics' as opposed to what I really did.

I'm not sure how that differs from biophysics anywhere else in the world, and I thought the university might notice that they are attempting to give me a degree which not only they don't give, but doesn't appear to exist anywhere else in the world.

Knobs.

The fact you enrolled in and completed a course that didn't exist doesn't bode well for your cleverness ratio!
