How do we qualify if we and Napoli both finish on 9 pts?

Bayern would like nothing better than knocking us out at our place. They wont want us in the competition in later rounds.

I think we need to try and beat Napoli. Going there for a draw would be very dangerous anyway.

Agree 100%

We dont go for anywhere for a draw. We didnt go to Fulham aiming to draw or United aiming to score 6. Its the same basic approach, play from the back 6 and exploit the stengths of our attacking front 4

Fuck me I bet you thought you`d never hear yourself saying that,this time last year !! ;)

Bayern does not give games away. Why should they? Every game means points in the 5-year-classification for club and country.

Actually why should Bayern care more about if Napoli or ManCity comes through?

But be carefully. The pizza bakers will fight for their lifes. It will be a real hard game. The scenery might be intimidating to your team - I do not know what they are used. The stadium does not influence the Bayern players too much - they did not even get bothered in istanbul against Turkey - but the team bus has to cross Napoli before the game and the Napolitan fans like to frighten players before the game...

Your defense guys are (like ours) nice western european guys. I know that Kompany is a real decent type. But you play against Italians and Argentinians. They seem to be so big but will be rolling on the floor at the slightest touch. For them the game is the most important - and I do not know if your guys will keep cool and play their game...

If Napoli wins you are out. If they win or tie they can still hope that Bayern helps them in the last game. Do not hope too much for El Madrigal.

Napoli will NOT beat Villareal in Spain.

By game-time some injured players will come back. They will do everything not to go out without a single point (in total embarrassment) - and they sure as hell are not getting that point against Bayern :-).

Villareal - Napoli = 1X. You can put a lot of money on that.

Key game is in Naples. We must not lose that one. End of.

Bayern will probably have qualified by the time we play them. That might make a difference in how they approach the game

Well Schweinsteiger will be out that's for sure although we do have good replacements. Past experience of this competition shows that winning the group doesn't always result in the easiest draw. As long as we qualify I'm not too fussed whether it's in first or second.
I do hope that we are through after the Villareal game though which will take the pressure off v City.

Goal difference, if its the same, then away goals. If that's the same, home goals.

cant be that.

if the goal difference is the same and away goals are the same then home goalswould automatically be the same.

It's points in the games between the teams level on points, then goal difference between them, goals scored in the matches between the relevant clubs and finally goals scored away from home. Home goals don't come into it.

If that doesn't resolve it then it goes to goal difference in all group games, goals scored in all group games then coefficient.

7.06 If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group
matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings (in
descending order):
a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the
teams in question;
b) superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams
in question;
c) higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the
teams in question;
d) higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches
played among the teams in question;
e) if, after having applied criteria a) to d), two teams still have an equal
ranking, criteria a) to d) are reapplied to determine the final ranking of the
two teams. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria f) to h)
apply;
f) superior goal difference from all group matches played;
g) higher number of goals scored from all group matches played;
h) higher number of coefficient points accumulated by the club in question,
as well as its association, over the previous five seasons (see
paragraph 9.02).
So if we end up level on points with Napoli having drawn 0-0 over there, they go through. If we draw 2-2 (or more) we go through. If we draw 1-1, it depends on goals away from home so we would be on 4 and them on 3, with them having to go to Villareal and win by 2 or more. If they were to win 1-0 in Spain then we'd have to score 2 or more against Bayern to qualify.

I think we can beat *anyone* at home if we are up for it. Yes, I mean anyone.

And I also think we can win in Naples. We should be going balls out to win both games and finish top of the group, which I believe is still achievable.
