How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Genuine question, not taking the piss, I’m not interested in the queue debate - how has leaving the EU improved your life?

Firstly I didn't vote to leave the EU, because I knew nothing would change. I still have to use a passport for travel and that's about it isn't it?

As for the queue debate that is what someone genuinely put forward for a reason not to Brexit.

Sorry to jump in but how has backing the ukraine improved your life? Is it all about your own personal comfort?

How has leaving affected your life?

I can go abroad (Albeit with a bit of a queue) I can work abroad if I fill in the right paperwork.

Are you complaining about inconvenience?

No I'm not complaining about a bit of inconvenience. You had rights, you lost them. What rights did you gain?

I had no rights that I have lost, nothing has changed for me. You had an inconvenience put in your way that's all.

You can still travel abroad and you can still work abroad, things have changed slightly and you need to adapt.

Ok - you’ve answered the question with a comparison of Brexit to the invasion of Ukraine, assuming that you’re implying that you just thought brexit was the right thing to do and there didn’t need to be any personal gain - other than philosophy - for the change?

With the greatest respect, that’s a terrible analogy.
No it's not if anyone decides any decision is good or bad based solely on their own personal gains then they get what they deserve. Like replying to a post they think they can win from but ignoring a previous one that they can't.

Yes you did, you don't need to deny the truth just because it is uncomfortable for you.

You had rights as a citizen of a member state of the EU which have now ceased.

If you had no rights to lose then by the same logic European Union citizens didn't lose any portion of their rights when the UK exited the EU. This is obviously not the the case.

Now which rights did you gain as a consequence of brexit?

Personally it’s made little impact to me aside from making certain things harder to do and a shedload of work as I work for a pharmaceutical wholesaler that operates across Europe. I know plenty of people whose lives have been completely changed for the worse because of it though. Not sure there’s really any argument at all on altruistic grounds that it’s been a success.

I have answered your question clearly, I didn't have any rights to lose and still have had absolutely no impact on my life since Brexit happened.

I lived in this country well before the EU and am living here after the EU. I can go on holiday I can even work abroad as I said you have been given a mere inconvenience.

I remembered the debate certain posters championing the poor. Anyone who said work harder etc got the valid reply that's heartless. We had the big debate about low wages and you know what ? When these remainers who for years played the socialist card realised they could lose out did they accept it? Oh no its right there in black and white if you search. Their answer was if you don't like it get another job.

Years claiming they spoke for social justice until they lost a vote then they blubbered because their lives were ever so slightly worse.

Fucking hypocrites.

It depends on what you think is a success. Let's be honest I think it's not even been adapted yet. Throw in covid and putin and we are still at the I lost not fair stage.

Get some perspective people millions have died and countries have been ransacked but shit I need a visa.

Do you live in a parallel universe?

You are talking absolute nonsense I'm afraid. If you were to move to the EU as a worker or resident because you are a citizen of a 3rd country still wouldn't have the same legal status and protections as citizen of another member state.

Given it was clear from the Vote Leave campaign who would be actually be implementing it, then surely Brexit was indeed an inherently bad choice?
Maybe it might’ve taken a different guise if Cameron hadn’t abandoned ship straight after the vote. If he’d stayed to see it through, him being a Remainer might’ve seen us get a deal that didn’t burn quite so many bridges.

Also, Labour came a lot closer to winning the 2017 election than expected. If they’d won, we’d have surely gotten a different Brexit than we ended up with. So I don’t think it was ever a given that we knew who was implementing it.

No doubt what we ended up with was a shit show though!

Ha ha ha - enjoy your next trip abroad and buying something on E-Bay from Germany or France

What do you mean legal status, what status would that be, I am a British citizen why would I want the same rights as an EU citizen? I haven't got the same rights as an American citizen if I go to the USA have I?

I get it, it bothers you. Try to get it, it doesn't bother me it doesn't affect me. If it did I would adapt.

Just to be clear it's you complaining that you haven't got something that I don't care if I have.

Brexit was a bad choice for business and it may very well have been a bad choice overall, but all I am getting from people is that they have lost their EU rights.

Brexit would be or could be a success if we had a govt that actually governed properly instead of setting people against people.

Like I said, I know plenty of people, including some that used to work for me, where it has changed their lives significantly for the worse so if you’re able to purely judge and frame it in the context of who’s winning in an internet debate, then good for you. I’m not sure you’re particularly best placed to argue about perspective though if you’ve been that sheltered to the impacts of it that you think all it’s done is made travelling harder for some…
