We'll end up over successive governments / parliaments tip-toeing towards a more sensible relationship with the EU, or it maybe that politics in the east of Europe/Ukraine consign Brexit to the dustbin of irrelevance. There was certainly scope to achieve a less damaging Brexit but both sides feeling they could manoeuvre for a 'win' sadly led to a hardening of positions and we are where we are...I'd disagree that there is a simple fix to satisfy Brexiteers. It wasn't perfect but as it grew there will always be some issues that require some compromises amongst 20+ member states. We had loads of compromises in our favour via opt outs but still people bought lies because they were delivered in 3 word slogans rather than long format pieces to read. ( they couldn't be arsed ) End of the day means any chance of re-joining will be based upon the idea that Brexiteers are vanquished and we just accept we won't have the same favourable deal

This was from a man who campaigned to leave the EU because he said our membership ruined his fathers business in Scotland, a claim his father has described as utter tosh, David Cameron in his autobiography described as mendacious, and after the fiasco of Dominic Cummings driving up to Barnard Castle, stated he often tested his eyesight by going for a drive in his car!

AmendedAt some point after the referendum he also let slip in an unguarded moment the people of Northern Ireland would continue to enjoy the benefits of EU membership after the rest of the UK had left.
This was from a **** who campaigned to leave the EU because he said our membership ruined his fathers business in Scotland, a claim his father has described as utter tosh, David Cameron in his autobiography described as mendacious, and after the fiasco of Dominic Cummings driving up to Barnard Castle, stated he often tested his eyesight by going for a drive in his car!

Disagree ...... as far as the Eu were concerned we were just leaving the ' club' . They didn't punish us , they attempted to negotiate with us. ... but in the end just treated the UK as they would treat any other country who was not a member.
Bearing in mind all the vetoes we held , they were probably happy that we're out.
