To be honest a lot of us believed it would be this bad - so maybe we were believing harder or better or with more conviction than the Leavers who when they could see it was a bust deserted it in droves and just stopped their believing

Blinded by my vote to leave, I and millions of others then doubled down and voted a Tory government in.

Things are changing; more than a few times recently I have heard on news programmes about how bad Brexit has been. Just this morning there was an item just before 8 about how bad it has been for us. Maybe some people are believing Project Fear was in fact Project Real.

Where though are those who said the EU was racist because it only allowed free movement from the EU, which is predominantly white? (I know, one's in Cyprus, but he wasn't the only one.)

I always felt once we voted to leave we had to see it through, whatever the consequences, because to fail to do so would have torn the country apart.
I stand by that view, but the longer this goes on, and the worse it gets, the risk of extreme national division is just as acute. This vote, and all that has flowed from it has opened Pandora’s box and released forces that simply cannot be contained, whichever way we turn.
The best we can hope for is humiliating reversal in a decade or so, following further decline and turmoil, with the pound being sacrificed as a price of re-entry.

See the post I made earlier - the EU have started the ball rolling to sanction us if we cause them harm. The Bruges Group have been posting about how they are so affronted that EU officials have laughed at us for the self imposed chaos this week. The EU is sick of us - I don't blame them - we never should have left - but the tide of sympathy is turning for us within the EU. They are sticking to their side of the bargain - you will need to give stuff like fingerprints next year to enter - we ain't going back any time soon sadly. All the protagonists who's names we know so I won't repeat them will be dead before we get a chance to re-join - I hope they go to their graves aware of the damage they have done to the country they profess to love.
