How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Best thing is the dawning realisation that the ‘special relationship’ was entirly predicated on our being the bridge into Europe and the EU for the Americans. Without that we’ve nothing to offer them and got nothing they want, hence the grand plan of some utopian free trade deal with them was always for the birds.
Note the newly coordinated attacks on Biden from the usual suspects, who’re still deluding themselves that Great Uncle Donald will be re-elected and bail them out, just like he did last time!
They seem to have zero understanding of what ‘America First’ actually means (spoiler alert: it doesn’t mean bail out the Limey’s with the greatest FTA you’ve ever imagined………)

Why would people mildly accept the diminution of both the nation and the quality of their lives? I can understand foreign adversaries and their quislings being happy with things as they are but everyone else should continue to be rightly outraged. The architects of this are probably happy there is only 'greeting' as opposed to civil unrest which would be entirely appropriate at this particularly fucked up juncture in our nations recent history.

Nothing to do with anyone not accepting it but plenty to do with it not fucking working in practically every area - immigration, trade, the economy and Northern Ireland.

It’s a shit show however much everyone just tries and gets on with it. We have been failed by the government and all they can do is try and pin the blame on the people who correctly predicted the shit show like it would have been different if they hadn’t.

No, it's not done and dusted by any measure.

I accept a small majority of the electorate voted in favour of it, but is there any positive benefit you can think of since we left the EU?

I could point out the leave campaign was nothing more than a cynical chorus of bullshit from the far right, appalled and disgusted by the incoming imposition of taxes on overseas bank accounts, but that doesn't concern you.

I could point out the far right are trashing our consumer, employment, and environmental protections, already in full swing as water companies fill our rivers and beaches with raw sewage, actions that couldn't have happened while we we were members of the EU, but that doesn't concern you.

I could point out the existance of the NHS, which was guranteed while we were members of the EU, is now being written into history with legislation now passing through parliament, but that doesn't concern you.

I could point out that import controls, delayed by the government time after time because they know and understand how much damage it will cause, resulting in shortages of everything from life saving medicnes to cucumbers, isn't a concern of yours.

I could point out we are the only advanced nation on earth with an economy smaller than it was before the pandemic hit, but that doesn't concern you.

I could point out tory MP's are openly questioning our membership of the ECHR in the house of commons which will impact every single one of us in some measure in a negative way, but that doesn't concern you.

How much shit do you have to take before you wake up and understand you are being drilled into the ground, and it doesn't concern you?

Great Post. The tories are going to leave Brexit half baked and when labour come in they will inevitably be under pressure to start rolling it back and why wouldn't they.

It's a matter of time before pressure builds to rejoin but first we have to get rid of the BS tories. Once they are gone things will start to change.

Labour need to grow some cojones first. Afraid of upsetting all the nut jobs who used to vote Labour but voted Tory last time .

The 1st priority is a big win at the next election and the strategy of avoiding the subject has really helped. Tories love talking up brexit, even though its shit, as soon as the debate ended tory popularity started to drop.

Labour won't mention the B word this side of an election if they can help it. But after that the clear majority of their support will be expecting a more positive approach to the EU as a minimum.
