How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

For the avoidance of doubt, I wouldn’t. I like feeling superior to others who are in my company. I feel having a knighthood would enable me to do this with further gusto.
Most of us assumed you already were a knight of the realm mate - it's a shame to disabuse us of our fanciful notions. ;-)

Your implication was I shouldn't care about the monarchy because it has little bearing on my life, no? So ok, let's apply your logic to other real life scenarios.

Homelessness? Who gives a fuck. I'm not cold, I've got a roof over my head.

Child poverty? They're not my kids, why should I care if they're malnourished and unloved.

Conflicts in foreign lands? Pfft, they're not my compatriots. And the price of fuel has gone up a few pence as a consequence, big frigging deal.

Point being, you don't get to be selectively principled in this life. I'm not going to direct justifiable ire at the corrupt cunts fronting our government and then turn a blind eye to the biggest collection of thieves in this country just because they parade cute kids and put on lavish public weddings a few times a year; in some pathetic attempt to display wholesomeness and well-intentioned duty. Proponents of hereditary monarchies don't get to moan about our healthcare being underfunded, our state schools being underfunded, our transport services being underfunded, etc etc.

Your priorities are either in check, or they aren't.
Utter tosh.

Everybody is selectively principled; it’s human nature to care more about certain things more than others, and for the vast majority of us to prioritise the needs of our families above strangers. That’s life, and just because you prioritise your family doesn’t mean that you’re completely indifferent to issues such as child poverty and homelessness.

Does having a hereditary monarch in the UK preclude the population from electing a government which tackles such issues? If I personally think that the £1.29 the Royal family costs me each year is acceptable, does that mean I can’t have an opinion on how the thousands of pounds tax I pay is spent?

Complete nonsense.

I sense that very few doubted that you would.

The bigger question is what level of honour would you accept without it feeling slightly unsatisfactory, and perhaps even challenging to this sense of superiority?

Would an OBE cut it? I assume an MBE wouldn’t.

Do you think the governments help for our leccy bills was too little, too much, or just right?

I couldn't answer that, because I've never had the government subsidise my utility bills.

Quite what this has to do with the point I was making, I don't know.
