Depressing. Because inflation is bumping prices up, people are using ‘value’ to mask the reality of what has happened. Presumably, this just means the pain lasts longer than need ever have been the case.growth growth growth

Trade from UK to EU 16% lower than if Brexit had not happened, report finds
Economic and Social Research Institute analysis found ‘substantial reduction in number of products traded’www.theguardian.com

Hard Brexit was an incredibly stupid thing to have voted for.
Why, when so many countries wanted to belong to the EU, did we think it the best course of action to leave?
Why did the media not show a model of what life would probably be like outside the EU, as a third country?
Were the mainstream media negligent in not reporting that properly?
Cameron was of course to blame for the issue being raised first of all, when it certainly wasn't front and centre of anyone's thoughts.
We are where we are...
In a total shambles with no 'leader' worthy of the name, with the knowledge or courage to extricate us from it.But where are we?
I remember a poster on here frequently used to defend FPTP because of the instability that PR brought to counties like Italy!'Those Europeans with their tinpot democracies and revolving-door governments; better off out of it...'
Must be bad. Didn’t Italy used to be a country?I remember a poster on here frequently used to defend FPTP because of the instability that PR brought to counties like Italy!

I think the only palpable positive that can possibly emerge is a more humble and reflective national psyche and disposition, but it will take a long time, require a great deal more pain and certainly isn’t guaranteed. And yet the 2 main parties still will not engage in this discussion. You can understand why the Tory party doesn't to an extent albeit the Tory Governments position was 'Remain' but Labour? I watched the video half way through and then stopped as I just found it so depressing. 50 years from now at least it will give kids in history classes a good laugh about how utterly moronic a good proportion of their forebears were.
- swallowed a bunch of lies hook line and sinker
- believed the right wing press and chancers like Johnson and Farage
- ignored every 'expert' analysis
- refused to apply even a modicum of personal critical analysis
- skimmed over massive hurdles like GFA
- many still double down over their role in this evolving tragedy
Mick Lynch has been fantastic at getting the RMT's point across recently (and winning the hearts and minds of many who were previously opposed to the rail strikes) and we've all enjoyed watching him routinely demolishing politicians and journalists alike. However, Mick is also a Brexiter and as far as I know he hasn't changed his stance even in the face of ever-increasing evidence that Brexit is a shit show (Mick - if I can wake up to it being a shit show, surely you can FFS!), so while he would be terrific on certain matters and could teach our politicians a thing or three, he's probably far from the ideal person to sort out the Brexit shambles. In a total shambles with no 'leader' worthy of the name, with the knowledge or courage to extricate us from it.
(Mick Lynch might be a shout though).
