How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Dead right, I. I think the 'fear' was solely contained on the back benches of the Tory party and had been for a good while. There were vehement and vociferous pro- and anti-EU MP's who wanted a national referendum because they both thought they could win. Cameron promised one, gave in to one, and thought the British people would do the dirty work for him and quieten his back benches. But we all know it backfired mightily.

I would add that Cameron assumed he'd be in coalition with the Lib Dems again and they would've said no to a referendum. Sadly for him and us the Lib Dem vote imploded and he had to deliver on his promise.

He also assumed that in a rationale debate that Remain would win. And then in stepped the liers, bigots, idiots and shit stirrers to drag the discussion into the gutter, not to mention the unidfentified social media agents and operators who pumped out tons of BS on facebook and then disapeared without a trace.

Think that’s more likely than not. Ironically, that manifesto promise might have delivered him the majority that meant he had to implement it. Bet he regrets winning terribly. Think he’d have chosen a Labour victory now as a preferred outcome than the legacy for which he will now be remembered.

I seem to recall that Cameron also injected a personal note into the manifesto debate when he pledged he would not lead a Conservative government that refused to offer a referendum.

His party could have chosen to implode in 2015. Instead they chose to do so later and that choice has inflicted untold damage on the country.

The hatchet job on Miliband in 2015 was something to behold, the usual suspects twisted their knives of course, no surprise there, but the BBC to their shame were appalling.

Never a great fan of the BBC, but after 2015 I gave up on it entirely.

Yes, but what about the chaos we would have had to endure if Miliband had won!

if the tories came out and said they will rejoin but Labour were against would you vote tory in a GE
In such a circumstance, I would shift sticks to Bonny Scotland and vote SNP :-)

remember follow humans, Tories are the party of austerity, child poverty, feathering their own nests, corruption. Changing their minds on the EU does not wipe out the misdemeanours Some of which predate the European debacle.

The question wasn’t just limited to the Tories.
