How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

On one side of the ship you've got the stupid rats gnawing through the hull, on the other side you've got the evil bastard rats who are dismantling large chunks of the hull to sell to pirates they are mates with. Between the two types of rats you can sink a ship quicker than anyone could imagine.
One day, hopefully soon, there will be a documentary that exposes both sorts and reveals where they are now and how they have personally profited from their machinations while making everyone poorer. I imagine it won’t be commissioned by the BBC…

Not sure what we can do about it though. People thought it would be like leaving a golf club and cancelling their DD, so presumably they also think rejoining will be akin to telling the bank to reinstate the DD. Hopelessly naive.

Leaving was complicated and fraught with challenges; rejoining will be even more so.

How anyone could think this would be straightforward is completely beyond me. It’s like the most complex divorce imaginable

We’ve opened Pandora’s box and need to deal with the consequences, which will be severe.

We’ve completely brought this upon ourselves.
We can kiss the Pound goodbye, as well as the exclusions and priveleges we negotiated for ourselves over the years if we decide to rejoin, and that's if they will have us back.
You don't know what you've got until it's gone, but the sad thing is that a lot of us did and then "democracy" was inflicted upon us.

Cue the boiling piss

OBR’s post-Brexit migration forecast: Net migration will be 224,000 in 2023, up from 136,000 in March forecast. By 2026 it will be 205,000, compared to forecasts of 129,000
They'll be coming for all that sovereignty...

Was chatting with some Italians earlier who are heading over to London for the weekend from Brussels, first time since Brexit, and they were genuinely saddened by the fact that they would now have to show their passports and not just their identity cards. In their minds, the very act of having to show a passport suddenly made England foreign and different.

Great, hopefully it will be a shot in the arm for our ailing economy.

Makes me sad too.

Are you sure? As the UK was never in Schengen, I thought a passport was always needed for entry
