How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

This woman is exactly why the vote went the way it did and now 7 years on still spouting the same old shite because they cannot admit reality

If you vote on principle rather than your pocket then yes, I don't mind whether it's a winner or loser. Are you saying that if Brexit improves your financial situation then you will become a leaver?

Younger generation can see the disaster that is Brexit

slowly, for the benefit of the UK, we will realign terms with the EU - Farage, GB News etc will throw their usual hissy fits but they'll be ignored next time.

I suspect that there is an arrogance amongst some Westminster politicians, on both sides, that makes them think they can still make a better fist of it, so while the future might see some realignment, it will only be a fudge to appease. In the meantime, the country will continue to slide and people will become relatively poorer. There may not be a ‘next time’ in many of our lives.

What a load of nonsense. Do you really believe that we as a country can have complete autonomy over everything we do? Even North Korea hasn't quite managed it. We are part of a global system like it or not and to think that we're not is naive. You have always had control of your own life and to say you didn't as a member of the EU is just nonsense. Did you used to vote in European elections?-if so, you had your say, if not then more fool you. For some businesses of course the "world has ended" as the costs of doing business with our closest external market have rocketed. The ability for a UK business to expand abroad has significantly reduced as the geographical logisitics to do so are so difficult to navigate. If you don't regret it, just give us all your view of what the top 10 benefits will be over the next few years.

And let's not forget the fantastic performance of the bunch of politicians that you are now prepared to trust to make legislation that you are going to have to live to.

Whatever the views we all may have on the EU, and it was in no way perfect, what we have now is infinitely worse be it freedom of movement, single market opportunities or the NI issues.

My financial situation is fine since Brexit (or was till Truss & Kwarteng lost me a huge chunk of a pension pot). I was just thinking you were a bit careless about the financial damage to the country's situation. If you're still hankering after the sunlit uplands, I can't help you.

A few points.
We have left a political organisation and unless you want to make membership of particular political organisations compulsory then that it is up to each individual voter whether they want to be a member or not. Is that fair? Granted, looking back, the referendum should have had a 65% - 70% majority as there are so many floating voters who seem to change their mind on a daily basis. But it was set up by Pro Remainers so blame yourselves.
We have not left Europe, you can still visit, work and live there. If they do not want you then that is their rules not mine. I have no objection to you visiting, working, living in Europe whatsoever, it's the countries you are visiting that might object.
We are part of a global system? Agreed, I'm quite happy to deal with any country, within reason, not just EU members.
Logistics. We live in a capitalist society and world. If there is money to be made people will deal with us. Businesses as always just need to adapt. The world works in mysterious ways, Margaret Thatcher was hated because amongst other things she destroyed the mining industry. Amazingly, I never see anyone these days campaigning to reopen the mines. So did she do a good thing or bad thing in destroying our mining industry?
Politicians. I've always voted Labour so none of 'my' politicians are actually in power. Would you welcome your remain leadership of Cameron and Osborne back?
Future. Who knows mate. Were things perfect under the EU? Will things be perfect under Labour? Did you predict Covid? What about the Russia/Ukraine war? What about Russia turning off the gas?
NI. Has been a mess for close on 100 years and being in or out of the EU does not change anything BUT the blood letting predicted by the Remain campaign has not happened has it.

I agree about the majority required in the referendum. But imagine the outcry of "vote fixing" if it had been anything other than a majority.

Not quite. We voted to become a 3rd nation and therefore agreed to those terms which we were quite happy with as a member.

We were able to deal with any nation as an EU member. All future trade deals will require enetering into an agreement as it did before, so we are miles away from achieving anything significantly better than we had before.

Go and ask the mining villages in South Wales if it was good or bad. It ripped the heart out of some communities and some, like the one my Mrs comes from have never recovered. They are often remote with one road in/out and so other industry establishing there is a non starter.

It's easy to say businesses need to adapt. Ask the owner fo the Cheshire Cheese Company how easy it is.

NI: no blood letting, but also no functioning government. A united Ireland is now a very real possibility so saying the EU changes nothing is frankly tosh.

I'm looking forward to your top 10 gains though-you've had 6 years to make a list.

Brexit people are all fckin racists or thick or both. If you voted Brexit which one are you?
I can't believe Cameron gets off so lightly for unleashing these nasty bastards on to the British public.

And he did it just to stay in power which he then singularly failed to do. The most idiotic leader I can remember this country ever having and I include the last 3 useless bastards in that as well.
