How do you assess our transfer business?

Poor
This is not about wanting a new toy as some are trying to suggest
We are worse off than two years ago by 3/4 players with kompany, silva, sane moved on. They have not been replaced.
It would be insane to believe that we could cope without further additions

Anyone heard anything about Galatasaray moving for Fernandinho?

No, but I have been thinking to myself that it might be smart of City to give Fern a free if we are struggling to move players on. He's a club legend no doubt about it, but if we are being honest he's not going to start that many games this season.

We have brought in Torres (replaces Sane who didn't play last year) and Ake (very underrated on here). Both of whom I believe will become firm favourites. Foden has come through to replace Silva etc. We are currently stronger than last season IMO and if we can add another CB to compete with Laporte, Ake and Stones, we will be set.

I feel the the transfer business so far will keep us in a similar position to the one we were last year.

We`ve lost David Silva and Leroy Sane and gained Ferran Torres and Nathan Ake.

David Silva maybe can be replaced with Bernardo and Foden. Sane was rightly or wrongly underused. Hopefully he can be replaced by Torres. Ake may help out on the left side of our defense and who knows maybe playing 2 left footers at C/B will work. We do however still lack a leader and Vincent Kompany replacement imo.

Fernandinho, Rodri and Gundogan lack pace just like last year.

So while others teams are improving at the moment I feel if we don`t buy for the area`s of the team that need improving we will stand still.

I therefore think, if we stay as we are we will have a season in the also ran`s.

Just seems that other clubs have a target and get them in. Rumours about Bale and Reguilon only a couple days old both bits of business complete. Same with Chelsea they get linked and it gets done. Liverpool signed that lb quick. Utd Van Der beek, Everton Allan and Rodriquez.

We got in our initial targets, Ake and Torres. Other deals sometimes take more time and may depend on us being able to sell.

Summed it up perfectly.

One thing I don't understand people complaining that we don't get our targets. We have spent about billion pounds since 2015.

We are in this position because our CB signings have completely flopped bar Laporte and have no reliability at left back.

But foden has been in and around the team for two seasons now so we are one body lighter in that position.
torres looks promising but younger and less developed than sane and may take time so cannot be said with certainty to be a like for like replacement
Everyone else is a year older

Striker is the only position I feel that could really haunt us. Aside that we should be fine for elsewhere. Massive season yet again for Jesus, didn't do enough for me last season despite getting his numbers up.

If we can keep fernandino away from defence and playing his natural role. Then I'd say we be ok. A forward will be great what with aguero in his 30s and injuries. Someone raw.
