How good was Yaya?!

The best player you ever saw play for any team yet...

I'm nearly 71 and have been watching City since I was 6. Yaya Toure has been the best player I've seen in a City shirt, and the way football is going nowadays, I honestly don't think I'll ever see anyone better in my lifetime.

It could be argued that Colin Bell and David Silva may have been more consistent than Yaya, but when Yaya decided it was Yaya time... He was an absolutely unstoppable force. A joy and a privilege to watch.

I miss his runs. Once he got doing in our own half and started to power through, then long legs and power were very impressive and very hard to stop. In his day he was the best player we had. Immense presents, power skill. One of my favorite players we had. He liked cake too

I'd say the same as several others re Yaya.
Only did it for 3 seasons really so he's not in my top few fav City players (Silva, KDB, Aguero, Rodri, Fern....).
But the talent, technique & power week after week was the best combination in a player that I've seen live

Pep responded directly to Toures idiotic statement, I don't know why people are attributing Toures employee with the remarks.

How the fuck anyone can support what he is said is unbelievaboo.

Didn't Pep and Yaya have history with Pep shipping Yaya out of Barce or have I remembered that wrong. I also imagine Yaya was influenced by Etoo's spat with Pep, which was pretty epic at the time.

It is ridiculous in all honesty. He won us the FA cup in that season, he also played a massive part in the Aguero season. Newcastle away was another level. And then in the Pellegrini season Yaya just decided to win the Premier League by himself. He is a complete enigma.
Rubbish.
It's not ridiculous ...and Yaya is not an enigma.
It's openly clear that Yaya Toure was a great Footballer for Manchester City,on the pitch.
Which...I think is what this thread is about.
Don't you think ?

Dig around in Sky TV sports and you will find a feature program showing his best moments at City. I have watched it a few times and will watch it some more.

A phenomenon of his time, the best in the world in his position for 4 yours.

Dragged City forward in the biggest of games.

A phenomenon !!

The biggest part of the reason as to why he’s not often included in discussions about the greatest players.

The greatest players don’t just decide it’s time to put effort in.

He was a monster 2009-2014. After that, it was painful watching him at times lackadaisically jogging about and getting run by. Silva on the other hand, was consistent yes. But he was consistently great over 10+ years.

By 2015, Yaya’s legs had gone. It wasn’t that he was being lazy or owt, he just didn’t have the athleticism for top level football anymore by the time he got to 32.

He was a big heavy bloke playing a sport mainly played by small nippy fellas.

Seriously good, a pivotal player in luring other great players into our club.

A beast on the park when he applied himself. It s his poor attitude off which turned many fans off him.

He s a legend in my eyes, I only remember the.great things he done for us.
