I agree with both sentiments....but gone are the days when musicians/pop groups/rock groups etc could earn such money as Floyd, Zeppelin, the Who etc etc did. Rightly or wrongly, musicians earned a percentage of each record sale, in the same way companies earn a percentage(profit) on the products they produce and sell.....but now artists dont get the same returns on their "product". Vast sums of money are made within the music industry, but most of it is going to those who host and "distribute" the music, rather than the artists. And its not right.

i admit i sa this ad a massive hypocrite as i use a streaming service, and prefer it to buying records/cds etc....but the model really needs to be changed to be more in favour of those who actually make the music

Imho, 1979 with The Wall. Just my opinion - I know others will disagree but I think that was a work of genius. 1973's Dark Side of The Moon is magnificent but, my personal preference is The Wall.

Each to their own.
Yes, I wouldn’t disagree necessarily. It’s just interesting to see when people view the peak of this particular band. Generally people say a year between 72 and 79, though I know some who swear by the Syd era, and even one or two (well actually just me), who would extend that to include The Final Cut too.

But as you say, each to their own.
