How good were the Bee Gees?

I think they get some stick undeserved stick purely for their disco period output as others have said, their pre disco stuff and particularly the 60's stuff is very good.
Their world wide sales have not been bettered by many and songs written for others sold by the bucket load - yes as have One Direction's songs, but no one will still be playing them in 10 years time and they wont be entering Halls of Fame anytime soon either.

They get the thumbs up from me :)

I'm not a huge fan of the Brothers Gibb but can certainly appreciate they were / are one of the great acts of all time.

I hated that disco music sound/scene, and only went to them to try and get laid, oh and get chicken in a basket at 1am.

But fair do's they saw a gap in the music genre market so I tip my hat to them as they certainly had take off into super stardom.

They would never have made it to that extent playing the stuff they were prior to "Saturday Night Fever" in 1977.

At that time I was listening to proper music and watching proper bands like Rainbow, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin lol!!!

Fantastic group and appreciated a lot more now than in my early years. Some beezer number and wrote quite a few for a lot of famous singers and groups. Lush.
