How long will Ten Hag last at United?

I think if I’m being very generous, GPC’s teams were successful in greater part due to their winning mentality and the way he man-managed them rather than for any particularly sophisticated tactical innovations.

I’m not saying he wasn’t good tactically, but he’s not the kind of manager that teaches systems and processes to his players. He just told them to do a job and they did it. This has bred a set of managers that have a lot of experience of winning things but they have no greater technical insight than any other player-turned-manager

The likes of Cruyff and Pep have created so many brilliant coaches because they expect their players to know the whole plan every bit as much as they do. They demand their players understand every position on the pitch and how it all fits together. The reason we can play exactly the same way even when Pep is in hospital is because he puts 11 managers on the pitch every week.
Oh absolutely, he never brought anything tactical to the table. Get it out wide and get it in the mixer was his one and only tactic (other than abusing and manipulating refs). But it’s that managerial style that I’m talking about - not a good model for ex-players to follow which is why none of them have been a success

They really don’t. Has there been a ex-United player who played under the GPC that’s been a real success as a manager? I can’t think of one (and I’m not counting Hughes or Bruce!). Could it be that the GPC was not a good role model as a manager perhaps, with his bullying, manipulation, narcissism, and autocratic ways?
Of course it is. Daft question :)

I got a message from my Rag mate, you’ll never guess who he wants in…

No you will genuinely never guess.

It’s Michael Carrick… yes the head coach of a mid table club in the Championship… yes that Michael Carrick.

I am wholeheartedly behind the #SOPP cause but honestly if that’s the alternative I may have to reconsider.

They really never learn, do they?
Yes, Carrick (another from the Class of 92 ?), who was a very good player but has showed little in his first managerial role ?
They are desperate for anyone with a GPC connection.
The dozy buggers don't seem to realise that the GPC has fecked them up royally since 2013.
His hanging around The Swamp is now even worse than when Matt Busby refused to leave them.
Think it's time The Neville brothers took over...

Popped round to the Cafe for a bit of a lurk. Not proud of myself, but I’ll get over it. Found this belter of a post - the author’s 16,000th from her/his London foxhole:

He's not surviving the season, is he?

League is gone before Halloween, and top 4/5 looks in serious trouble given the starts Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool have made alongside us. Getting out of the CL hangs on by a thread. Newcastle will fancy their chances mid-week.

And more importantly they look clueless on the pitch. They're worse now than when he took over. What was the tactical plan today, and what were the subs meant to do? This fella was being heralded as a Cruyffian mini-Pep when he arrived and he's hoping for turnovers and moments and a goals from Scottish defensive midfielder not good enough to play defensive midfield for Scotland.

Alas.
