How long will the rebuild take?

I think you are both wrong in this regard - net spend angle.

You especially with your " kid in a sweet shop " approach to buying shiny new toys at every opportunity.

Do you seriously run a business of your own ?

The club is managed with a professional and serious business plan throughout, as has been shown and continues to be demonstrated by the new stadium development.

There are clearly a number of factors which have collided and helped produce the situation which is currently affecting the team performance, but trying to buy every player which captures your imagination is not the way the club will proceed.

Sorry to be harch @richards30 , but I'm afraid that's how I see it.

6 businesses mate and all successful thank you. I’m obviously not in football but the club has been FAR too reliant on Pep getting them out of the shit over the last few years and getting over the line on the last day of the season most times? Even with a fit squad I just think it needs a refresh as most clubs do but it’s the same in business generally? New products, new offers, new styles , new rewards etc depending on which industry you are in but changes need to be made. I don’t get into things with people on football forums to be honest mate so it’s all good as I try to keep my temper in check so being released from jail 12 years ago due to my temper going off to easily and nearly killing someone who insulted my wife.

That's they way I see it. We don't know if we're going to get a eye watering fine so caution is needed on any spending until the case is over
Just to add, I don’t think Txiki would have been awarded Sporting Director of the year if he hadn’t been facing a lot of obstacles in his role.

Sorry about all your personal issues and I wasn't trying to insult you as a person, but merely your thoughts regarding player recruitment.

I think you do the club a serious misjudgement with regards to spending on players, but neither you nor I know the reasons for whatever influenced those decisions.

When the right players become available I believe we will sign them and invest appropriately.

Again my apologies for upsetting you.

Sorry to be so harsh @richards30 , but I'm afraid that's how I see it.
Letting players age into their mid 30s and expect them to bring home trophies wouldn't be classed as professional and serious IMO.

More like shortsightedness.

Investing in the stadium and infrastructure is a no brainer. It's a huge outlay of funds that will bear fruits over a period of years.

You can't compare a business plan off the pitch to a business plan on the pitch.

Our squad has been neglected.

We aren't saying buy the latest shiny new toy for every transfer window. What some of us are saying is, some of these players like Savinho for example should have been brought in whilst the likes of Mahrez was around so they can learn and develop.

If we continue down the prudent route in the transfer market, we will only fall further behind. With or without Guardiola at the helm.

I always read Pep's comments carefully, because what he says and how he says it has bearing on our result. What I can deduce right now from his post match interviews is is that he didn't expect this kind of a meltdown, he couldn't predict how serious it could be even with some expected loss of form and worst of all, he really doesn't seem to know how to fix it.
Yesterday comments about survivability were made because he thinks this team is beyond fixable. We usually say he' ll find a way and we witnessed he tried everything and it has been becoming progressively worse.
In 14 PL games he had the same back line in the first two games. Akanji started at least once in any of the four positions and do not get mi on Lewis, so masters of everything turned to masters of nothing. It is just not viable to make so many changes so often whether he was forced or not and yesterday Grealish and Doku subs and where they ended up playing is exemplary how he's been making wrong decisions. And with Rodri injured we kept the momentum somehow, but when it dawned on all of them he was gone for the whole season all positive energy to feed on disappeared.
I have no clue where it goes from here with the team playing the worst football since Mancini's last season, the change of DOF and him staying relatively short term.
I Just do not buy this 'end of cycle' theory , the players he is fielding every week are good enough - in my view - to mix it up to stay in the title race, but we somehow ended up with every single player being out of form, that is just not normal.
I'll still renew my season ticket, still travel to as many games to Etihad and London away games, but it is deeply worrying.

This rebuild should have started in summer 2023 after the treble season success. some people say we haven't spent enough because of the 115 but we have splashed millions down the drain on players like Doku, Nunes etc. not saying they cant come good but I haven't seen anything to suggest these players can take us to the next level

If we have the money spend it.

Lot of new players needed. Stop patting ourselves on the back for winning net spend. That’s all well and good when u have no need to go into the market.

A expect a mixture of 2 top tier players and maybe a few good players. Start by plugging the big hole in midfield and then moving on to the defence before looking for someone to help the big man.

Yes, after the treble, he and Pep made errors, too loyal for me.

We have been very static with the squad for two seasons, baffling to be honest, the Rodri/back up partner sums up the monumental mess up.

The Rodri situation was a tough one as who was going to come in and be his understudy. There didn't seem to be any obvious choices available?
