How long will the rebuild take?

The current squad is still good enough for Top 4/5 (which might be enough for a Champions League spot this year)

I can see the argument for making signings in January but if pushed, I'd probably save the money for the summer when better players are more likely to be available.

Imagine if we panic buy a dud in January and because of it, can't sign an otherwise available better player in the summer?
Its clearly not good enough. We will not finish top 4 without significant reinforcements in January…. Even then its not a given we’ll get top 4 but we have more holes in the squad than Swiss cheese. We cant afford to do nothing

We are in free fall mate and this squad atm isn’t making top four abc we are going out of Europe aswell so we need to do something in January and I agree we can’t sign a dud but we need somthing and we need it asap . Tbh I wouldn’t trust our DOF so can’t guarantee if we buy shit again .

We've had a very bad couple of months, not years. 2 players this window and 3 in the summer (and a reserve GK) of the correct quality with Rordi/ Bobb returned and Foden regaining form will be enough to see us back. The caveat is the quality of the players

We won our first 3 games of the season with decent performances, without Rodri, and were able to grind out results to remain unbeaten until the Spurs game. I think we can get back to that and get Top 4.

Which players that can be considered significant is going to be available in January? Nunes/Phillips type signings are what we're likely to get in January.

Not a chance imo, if we do nothing… you really think we’ll get a result away to Villa next week?

As for players that are potentially gettable in January, its tuff and we certainly wouldn't get them from Champions league teams obviously, however some are getable and would strengthen our squad/freshen things up until the summer!!

Zubamendi would be my most urgent choice.
We cannot go into the second half of the season without a DM!! Its like groundhog day currently… he’s played with Rodri and also replaced him for Spain.

Wharton from Palace potentially

I like Robinson (LB) at Fulham. We've not had a LB of any note since Clichy left in 2017.

Livaremento (RB) if Newcastle have to sell maybe…

Cunha from Wolves looks decent. Can play anywhere across the front line plus AM/Second striker!

It’s not good enough for top 4 but 2-3 good signings in Jan would do it.
