How long will the rebuild take?

one big problem, the rebuild will be compared to the immense few years we just had which is almost impossible to recreate.

similar issue at the rags, whenever they will have a great period again hopefully never, will be compared to the Ferguson period of 13 titles in 25 years or so.

we need to be humble and accept last few years under Pep was most likely our best period ever with CL trophy many other cup trophies and 5 titles in 6 years. never again we are likely do this kind of period. wining maybe two titles o the bounce, or do a CL+PL combo win in a great season is not impossible, but this sustained period oh high level achievement was a rare time in our history.
not many around like Pep.

did Barca ever recreate their early 2008/2010 run? league titles and two CL titles with Pep? they did have great successes after that too, CL trophy as well, title 2 years ago most recently, and on top currently too, but they kind of still thinking of that Pep-era as the top which they didnt hit since and likely wont anytime soon.

once the rebuild is done and Pep is possibly not around for long time from now on max 2 more seasons, I expect PL title will be shared between few clubs in lot more equal way than last 10 season.
last 10 season it was:
6 titles City
2 titles Chelsea
1 title Leicester
1 title Liverpool

I dont see anyone possibly being such an outlier as we were in last 10 years.
and if we do the comparison to this whatever the rebuild will be it wont hit these heights.

we wont be either without Pep as cannot see anyone as good as him who could deliver so much in a hard league like this. this aint the french league where PSG's hardest opponent has a squad like Brighton and the spending power of Nott Forest.

Yep be a very good decade if we win 2/3 titles 2 fa cups 2 league cups and if we really lucky a champs league! But doubt that be possible when you look at other teams in premier what they have won in the last decade many top teams no titles! Arsenal what they won last decade? 3/4 fa cups a league cup? Rags a Europa 2 fa cups league cup? Liverpool in one of there best periods since they were winning leagues for fun have won 1 of everything and classed as a great era for them!

What we have done last 10 years no other club will come close if ever for a long long long time!

What I want is not to not win a premier in over ten years! It could happen and probably will happen when you look at the History of football..

One thing I've been here to see is break records and was there at the ground watching us lift titles after titles..

If we can all agree we need a rebuild, then sure as hell this does not and can not happen under Guardiola. He clearly does not have the energy nor alternative footballing philosophy that will be required. With Guardiola still here we can not make any signings in January as those players brought in may well, just like the rest of this squad (less Dias), be considered expendable by any new manager.

In short, and as unpalatable as it may be to some of you Guardiola happy clappers, the man, his philosophy and the vast majority of his squad are now of absolutely no use to this club moving forward.

Mad how he's won 12 league title in 15 seasons without energy or an 'alternative football philosophy'

The director of football looks for players to fit how we as a club will play even when pep is long gone! Pep didn't even know about Doku..

If you have ever listen to pep he says he can't do what he does without top players at the moment we don't have top players we have most of our defence out most of the squad is shot knackered because what we have done as a club since pep been here!

Oh what pep has done here what no other manager have ever done since football began and probably will never be done again!

Am sorry I'm in the happy clappy team of backing Pep !

I respect your opinion, but if I can ask you who you believe genuinely still is (at the top of their form) , or has the potential (on a genuine upward slope) to be top class out of that current squad?

For me it is Dias.

Both keepers ageing and failing.

Stones, Ake, Walker and Akanji and on the downward cycle.

Lewis may be a player who is improving but he doesn't have a true position and is nowhere near physically good enough.

Gvardiol may well be worth keeping, but he is a centre half who has been played out of position that much he has forgotten the basics of his core trade.

Nunes is shite
Duku no end product & shite.
Savinho is a Brazilian Grealish.
Grealish, our worst ever signing.

KDB and Gundogan are decrepit.

Haaland is bone idle and one dimensional.

Foden for me is nothing more than an inside right who can cut in and occasionally (not this year mind) score from a long shot. He's completely out of form and may be suffering from having achieved too much so soon.

Bernado and Kovacic, although decent players, are not going to improve nor be good enough in the time this will take.

And as for Rodri, well who knows what the future may hold.

Christ knows what McAtee (and he's not the answer) must make of it all, as he can't get in a team that has a worse current record than anything he saw at Sheffield United!

In short, if we were to try and sell them, we'd probably have to give most of them away and that sums up where we are.

This, it’s all about players.

All we need to do is buy better players, ones that are as good or can be as good as the likes of KDB, Walker, etc have been in their prime.

It’ll take a lot of money, but we seem to have spent relatively little recently and recouped a fair bit. Now is the time to dip into those savings and rebuild with top quality.

No more average squad fillers like Nunes and Phillips. We need to find who the best is for the positions we need to improve, in any league in Europe, then pay what it takes to get them.

I'd keep Rodri Haaland Dias Akanji Lewis Gvardiol Doku Savino foden and out of them first teamers as of now are DIAS GVARDIOL RODRI AKANJI HAALAND FODEN. Rest are squad rotation for time being! Now that's some rebuild we need

Don‘t think it need necessarily take that long. 2/3 proper signings (central midfielder, De Bruyne replacement, maybe a wide attacker) would put us right back in the mix. Then a case of continually phasing out older players.
All hinges, of course, on us returning to a semi-sensible set-up/system. If we insist on playing with fullbacks as wingers or as false no. 8s, we‘ll need to do a hell of a lot more business.

we need a striker ASAP to take the load off Haaland who looks completely shot at the moment. Foden was the one bright spot yesterday. i only saw Walker throwing himself to the ground on the highlights post game, what a kin embarrassment. Pep can turn this around in a few months IF he gets the right players in Jan which is a notoriously hard month for signings.
