The community shield is not a cup final FFS!
It’s @ meaningless pre season friendly.

In 2018-19 when we won the domestic quadruple, Pep said something along the lines of, ‘excuse me, it’s four trophies [when someone said we’d won three that season], we also won the Community Shield. It is a trophy, it is in Germany and Spain and it was when another club won it the other season so why aren’t you counting it for me?’

Every single club who’ve ever won it in England across Europe includes it in their honours list. It’s not a major trophy, it’s a minor trophy, but it’s not meaningless. It’s more of an exhibition final than a friendly.

I’m disappointed we lost yesterday and Pep and the players will be. Not as disappointed as losing a major trophy, but it’s not like the real meaningless games like Atlético last week.

Also, any goals scored count towards players’ career goals. Whereas actual friendlies do not.

The Rags have won the Charity Sheild/Community Shield 21 times. 16 times outright and 5 times shared. It’s on their website honours list. If those 21 Charity Shields/Community Shields were taken off them, it would have a massive hit on their honours list and trophies won.

It is a preseason game. Even red and yellow cards don't count outside of the game itself.
