one of my ancestors was Sir Thomas Duke, some welsh nobleman who went over to Ireland and nicked a load of land (apparantly)
The name Duke is still a fairly popular name in Ireland, although most descend from welsh celtic not irish celtic
I was thought celtic was celtic...?
http://www.harpanddragon.com/whoare.htmThere are generally six Celtic peoples recognized in the world today. They divide into two groups, the Brythonic (or British) Celts, and the Gaelic Celts. The Brythonic Celts are the Welsh, Cornish and Bretons; the Gaels are the Irish, Scots and Manx (inhabitants of the Isle of Man). Some people recognize a seventh Celtic nation in the region of Galicia in Spain (their Celtic language died out a thousand years ago, and so the Celtic links are more tenuous).

That's where my family come from!! About 7 miles Dublin side of Cavan town. There's not many Irish Mancs from Cavan. Where abouts??
Me myself I was born in Dublin, spent every summer in Cavan and consider myself Irish but now have a Manc accent through and through having moved to Manchester (Longsight then Fallowfield) when I was 5ish years of age.
Kinda strange when I speak to family members people who know me say that I have a right Irish twang!?!?!? Wierd!!!
But regardless I'm City 100%
