How many points to win 2019/20 season?

Perhaps I'm just a miserable pessimist, but everyone in this thread is speaking of VAR as a net gain for City...

Sure, had there been VAR this season it may well have been, but I can't bring myself to see it being used to our benefit in any way next season. I see it as another way for them to get us.

It will be fair in terms of offsides tho

Saw a stat about offside goals this season:

% of goals scored that were offside:
Liverpool 8.5%
City 2%

I think 90+ will get the job done. I expect some of the midtable and other bottom 6 clubs to strengthen relative to us and Liverpool.

Liverpool got a lot of luck this season, and not just from the officials. All top teams score late goals but with LFC this season it was more the nature of many of them.

VAR should take away their abnormally high number of offside goals this season and may put a stop to some of their diving

but... non of this necessarily means they will be worse off. They could compensate for it all by just being a better team, whether through more big signings or just improving as individuals and as a system.

I'd guess we'll need at least 93-95pts

I think Liverpool will find it hard to raise themselves again after getting 97 points and still missing out on the league. That must have left them thinking "what's the point?" I think that will cause a subconscious drop off in performance next season.

To be fair............they did win almost 58% of their games. That's the sign of true greatness right there!!
So on that basis Liverpool with their 61% win ratio in the champions league last season really are the bestest team in the world ever. I supposed I best take back all the negative comments I made about the bbc and the media as the wank fest of hailing the best side ever was justified it seems.
