How many points to win the league?

Yes at ours and I also think Liverpool can beat them. They can also slip up at a lower team away.

Draws are fine as well!

Yep, those 2 for sure - and Chelsea can get something. They also have Palace away - depends which palace turn up though

It's funny all this talk about Newcastle fucking up a 12 point lead in 1997.. I found this amazing but you know how many points they ended the season with? 68!! We're 3 behind that total now with 14 games left. What a poor league it must have been that season, United won it with 75.
Of course it was a poor league: We weren't in it.

Of our last 7 aways we won 4 of them last season at Saints,West Ham,Burnley and Stoke, drew at Arsenal and lost to Everton and Spurs.

United’s 75 points in 96-97 remains the record for the lowest number of points gained by the ultimate Premier League Champions.

However, it was the previous season when Newcastle blew their 12 point lead (2 of which were at Maine Road)

United won the League with 82 that season.

It’s going to drag for me until that West Brom game. Just want to get this bloody thing won as quickly as possible.

Sorry you’re right, got my years mixed up there. That was the season when Keegan quit and Dalglish took over - I seem to remember Newcastle having a good run towards the end of the season under Kenny which got them the runners up spot (and CL football, first time they let a non Champion in).

10 wins from 14 seems a tall order seeing the schedule we have.

The rag myth of today was founded on the leagues they won during this period, the golden age of the class of 92

They had literally no competition for five years during this time, it was only when Wenger turned up that they weren't competing against Norwich , Villa and the like

9 wins from 14 if one of them is against Utd. That doesn't seem such a tall order does it?

And that is purely based on the rags winning all of their games and the maximum number of points they can get.

They will draw a couple in there too. I think we need 7 wins including beating the rags. A couple of draws in there will mean we would be on 88pts. Realistically, with 14 games left we should be able to win 8 or 9 which would easily win the league.

The rags could get 92pts even if they lose to us but will draw a couple of others and will end up on 86pts or so.

We do seem to have a tough run in.

Rags and Chelsea at home.
Spurs, Everton, Arsenal away.

Lets just way we only get 6 points from those 5 games.

We would then need 19 from the remaining 9 games.

Saints, West Ham, West Brom, Burnley, Brighton, Huddersfield, PED City, Swansea, Stoke

Draw, Draw, Win, Draw, Win, Win, Win, Win. Draw - 19

That's made me feel a bit better. Would get us to 90 points and the rags could only afford to drop 5 to match us. They have Spurs, Us, Chelsea and Pool.

Given we've only recently gone past the half way point, I'd imagine most teams have a similar 'run-in'. Arsenal v Liverpool is the only top 6 game (I think) has been played twice.

14 games left, 7 at home (incl the derby), 7 away. If we win all the home games, we only have to win 2 away games to be certain. if we can beat Burnley (not easy but certainly doable) then we'd only have to find 1 more away win - that makes it sound much more straight forward.
And looking at that Newcastle 95-96 season, they were 12 points clear after 24 games too, but lost 4 of their next 7 games, I just don't see us doing that

I need us to score 34 goals in the remaining 14 matches
Shall I give up!!
