It’s no more embarrassing than it is arrogant when people were saying “it’s done” when we still needed 20 points (which was happening), or even 11.
It just means some people worry more than others.
Football is unpredictable. Nothing that’s gone before now matters towards what’s coming. City could just as likely end the season how we started it, as much as we could end the season winning every game.
We’ve displayed both extremes of brilliant and terrible over the last two seasons. When it really mattered last Summer we were unforgivably shit against Arsenal and Lyon, and we started this season terribly; we also finished second in the league and won the EFL Cup last season, and went on a 21 game winning run this season.
Either City, or neither City, could turn up to end this season. We could get 11 points in our reaming six games like we did in our opening six games and just get there on the final day, we could win every game and smash it, we could be somewhere in the middle. Nobody knows.
I’m not particularly worried, myself. I’m still quite calm but also realistic because it is definitely not done yet. Doesn’t matter how many points clear we are or what the odds are at the bookies; it’s never done until it’s mathematically done.
