How many trophies will we win?

PL is over.

Though I value this title highly, it's the CL that counts most for me.

PL - best in England.
CL - best in all of Europe - and by extension - best in all the world.

This is why our club - and I - want to win the P/L for sure - but that we need to win the C/L to cement our greatness.

Champions League is still a cup competition though with a one off game at the end to win all. So for that reason alone it’s always going to be second to the title for me.

But win the fucker once just to get the media/ rival fans off our backs would be nice ;)

There's only one that counts for me and it's the Premier League. If and it's a big if, you can add the Champions (where does the apostrophe actually go in that word with only one champion and 3 others qualifying) League in the SAME year then you can rightfully claim to be the best team in Europe. To just win the Champions League without being the newly crowned champions of your own domestic league is shallow, flawed and in my view invalid.

In fact, the old term European Cup would better fit the current format of a cup some European teams play for, with Champions League ironically a better name for the original champions only trophy.

The FA Cup and League Cup are really enjoy it on the day events but winning them is more about starving all the other teams of any glory than glorifying ourselves.
I kind of agree about winning the European cup in the same year you win the league but what about winning the league the year before or after the CL? Baring in mind winning the European cup after winning your league was the old format and no one ever derived that feat it is not to be sniffed at.

That was less questionable because the only teams who competed for it were Champions albeit perhaps the year before.

The last team English team to win the Champions League and be that season's Premier League winners were United in 2008. Neither Chelsea's win in 2012 or Liverpool's wins in 2005 or 2019 can be considered to have crowned the best team in Europe. In fact Chelsea were only 6th in the Premier League and won less than half their league games, whilst in 2005 Liverpool were 5th and won less than half their league games and in 2019 they were not the best team in England and lost 4 of the 13 Champions League games. They finished 2nd in their group and only scraped through in 2nd place on goals scored. In short, with the exception of Bayern Munich I am not convinced any European club side outside the Premier League would currently win our Premier League and that's why the Champions League has since its change from the European Cup, been the best example I've seen to describe the phenomenon of Emperor's New Clothes I have ever seen.

The solution of course is to not play European football during our league season and that would allow the season to finish early April. The sides at the tops of the leagues across Europe should then play the Champions League (Champions only) and the Europa League over late April and May. Then whoever won the Champions League could truly claim to be the current best club side in Europe.

The Champs league is the priority for the owners , manager and players its a trophy /medal that lifts the staure of the club , personally i despise the competition and let my feelings know when their "anthem" is played pre-match

Its a glorified ,money making device for UEFA who would love there ex-G14 clubs to win every year for the increased revenue , we are not a world reknown club at the moment and not the cash cow UEFA crave

The Premier league is the be all and end all for me , its proof over 38 games that we are the best , domestic cups are a nice bonus , but the Champs league is a tainted competition , UEFA and some of the ex G-14 clubs have tried everything to stop our progress stooping to levels of dishonesty which have been quite startling. Dragged through CAS/FFP with virtually zero proof of any wrong doing but the stigma remains , no smoke without fire and all the rest and UEFA let hateful little men like Tebas continue their tirade against our club with no action taken against his lies and accusations. UEFA couldnt give a f*ck about us and i couldnt give a f*ck about UEFA and their bent, corrupt, crooked competition. But if our owners believe this is the last step for our club to be recognised throughout europe , then good luck to them , its their money.

I don't know a single fan whose priority is the CHampions League but it would be great to win it in the face of open hostility from rival clubs and some journalists who made it their life's work to eliminate City from the Champions League.
