How soon does Guardiola takeover?

In Madrid we randomly walked past the City team hotel just as Txiki was leaving on foot so we chatted with him for a few minutes.

Anyway I asked him the 'when does Pep start' question and he said July 4th, so that's from the horses mouth... Also said we are looking to get at least 6 new signings in this summer.

There's been talk of Arsenal offering Arteta and Henry roles in their coaching set up. I think his contract expires this Summer so maybe it will become clearer after Arsenal's last home game.

In reality a "start date" is just for the formalities of his contract. I imagine he's been working on City stuff for a while now.

Not sure when he will have his 1st meeting with the players - but they should film that!
His thoughts might have, but Bayern have a Cup Final in a week. I doubt anything serious happens until that's done. One job must be almost totally overwhelming.

I know it's probably not that significant in terms of the work he does on the training pitch and behind the scenes, but I am really looking forward to Pep becoming the public face of MCFC. The profile of this club needs to go up a level and we need someone who can defend his corner.

No. 1 grumble on Bluemoon (after the team) has always been City's relationship with the media. This is going to get huge now. if he's successful then City will become the dominant club in European football truly alongside barcelona and Byaern and the relationship with the media will change forever.

The end of the season can't come quick enough. I can't wait to see what Pep does to us. I think he's in for a very bumpy ride from the media, they don't like it that he hasn't gone to Trafford. Some of the pre match pressers are going to be a bit volatile. I can't fucking wait.

Wouldn't blame them, he's a fraud.

It's gonna take longer than that to get us playing how he likes. He's got to adjust to the Prem for a start. I'll certainly be giving him a years grace before I expect to seriously challenge for a trophy.

So Pellegrini should have made a bollocks of his first season then instead of winning a double?

I haven't watched a pre match press conference in almost 3 years, Pellegrini is as dull as dishwater. I'm looking forward to having a livewire manager who's not afraid to stick it to the cockroaches in the press, goes without saying his tactical nous will be a refreshing change from the uninspiring man without a clue.

Lest we forget that it was Pep that eyeballed the cockroach that is Jamie Jackson and demanded he looked at him during a presser a few years back.

Really looking forward to seeing that reflected in the team as well, Pellegrini's completely uninspiring demeanour is reflected in his side and the opposite is true of Pep. Really can't wait.

Pellegrini inherited a world class team in their prime. Pep is inheriting an aging, injury prone squad. Couldn't be more different.

Pellegrini did not have to rebuild a team in his first season.

He took over a very good team, but one who had major problems in the dressing room, thanks to Mancini.

Once Pellegrini began to alter that team in his 2nd, and 3rd seasons, it went wrong.

Next season is going to be transition, will be difficult, but the result should be incredible.
