'How to buy a football club' - Ch4 Mon 8pm

Look, we all know what's going to happen after this. Pretty much fuck all.

Fergie will not be investigated or affected one iota by tonights program. Robson will, in the next couple of days, either resign, or be removed, from his position as Global Ambassador, probably claiming medical grounds so as not to draw any attention towards the Dispatches program, and in order to prevent the press having a proper go at him. Can you imagine any journalist following up a statement such as "I need to step down as United Global Ambassador as I continue to battle against cancer" with any questions about corruption? They'd look like prize twats if they did.

It'll all be forgotten within a week.

The most serious accusation was that Fergie had been giving his mate information about betting.

If this is true, even though he said it was all in fun, with the known corruption that exists in the Far East, with relation to PL betting-this potentially is a very damaging accusation.

Ok, now take away the fact they had their meeting in the United bar and change it to Paddy's Bar just down the road.

Now put it back in the United bar where it happened.

Absolutely nothing is linked to United then, other than an ex player and a manager who the programme even said doesn't have the relationship with that Jim character which he, (Jim), seemed to enthuse.

The ex player is the ex captain of United and now a 'global ambassador' for them. Nothing linked? Jim or Joe Sim has Taggart on speed dial, pictured dining with him and got football tips off him. Still nothing linked?

Ferguson did nothing wrong in that programme. So if you take the fact the meetings were held in a United bar what do you have left? A washed up ex United player making a **** of himself and ridding himself of any credibility he had to begin with. It would be the same if it was, oh I don't know, David White for example. It would only be the case that he was an ex City player that the club would be linked to the programme in anyway shape or form. There is nothing to report on the club, because the trap was set to show how ex players are involved in trying to purchase clubs in an illegal way.

Agreed the one who came out of it looking like a twat was Robson and i can't see him being the 'ambassador' much longer - although with their history of ticket sales with Charlton it might get brushed aside.
Not much direct at Fergie but if David White had Bobby Manc's number and was phoning him while setting up dodgy deals, the press would have been all over it like a rash - and you know it.
It does give the opportunity for a fair bit of digging with loan players by the FA though - just in case.

Guilt by association would be implied simply by the amount of times it would be mentioned in relation to the story.

The very fact that this story barely made the papers today speaks volumes for certain hacks and editor's relationship with that club.

Soz.....this was in resonse to Pige's question.....trying to do ten things at once here...

Not questioning the points you keep repeating about the links being tenuous, Robson aside...... (apart from your comparison of Robson and White as an example.....Robson was a high profile player for them and England, hence him now being in his words 'an ambassador for the club', White was a bit player in the greater scheme of things, so poor comparison.)

My point isn't anything to do with the facts or implied guilt in the story as such, just the way it's been 'stifled' shall we say, and that I believe is purely because of the club/people it was attempting to hurt with the story.......and had it been City, or most other clubs it would have been reported very 'differently'.

Hey, maybe you are right, maybe I am paranoid, manyoo are treated the same as the rest......or maybe I just spent too much time in that business and see it differently.
I respect how you have seen first hand that United get certain privileges from the press and if thats what you've seen I am in no position to argue against that. On this particular issue though I can't see what Ferguson and/or United as a club have done wrong. Matty just posted how nothing will happen, no investigation on Ferguson or the club... what is there to investigate though?!
(I only used the White/Robson comparison as an example of him only being an ex player too).

Bacon's a dodgey nob, but theirs nothing in that program to prove he is.

Although I did smile when I heard Harry rednapp's name....

From acorns mighty oak trees grow. Maybe all this small stuff could allegedly get round to match fixing, because the number of Fergies mates teams who fucking underperform at the swamp season on season, no wonder the fucker has 12 titles, and thats without the referees helping allegedly.

Once they are in this stuff how far have they gone.

A number of times on here it's been mentioned about how clubs that borrow players from the rags rarely if ever take points off them in the league
Wigan is always a stand out candidate. I don't think they've ever taken a point of the rags and Whelan is always sucking bacon faces cock in the media

Wigan have lost all 13 games against rags from when they joined premier league in 2005 (including the 2006 league cup final). What is more shocking is the number of goals scored in these games, Wigan 4- 41 Rags, an average of 0.3 to 3.2 goals per game. Here's me thinking it was all down to Steve Bruce's sides lying down for them, Roberto Martinez's teams' goal record in 4 games is 0-16 i.e. 0-4 average. So for those betting folks amongst you history says rags to win and score 2 goals or more.

Just watched it on 4OD

Three things stood out for me

The nervous laugh from Robson when Sim mentioned the fact that the 3 Preston players were recalled the same afternoon Fergie Jnr was sacked
Sim´s total contempt for the average football fan by referring to them as "a headache" I wonder if his "brother" Alex has the same feelings
Finally why did Stalin agree to talk to some stranger from a restaurant if there wasn´t a pretty close relationship between himself and Sim?

By no means incriminating but I think you know where I´m steering this ship

Surprise , surprise no mention or debate on Talkshite

Pigeonho in defending United yet again, shocker.

I see your status is also STAY ON YOUR FEET, a slogan entirely created and marketed by Rio Ferdinand.

Ah, my resident stalker.
There is nothing to defend, which is my point entirely.
And you need to do your homework, because it was actually Ray Wilkins who started the whole 'stay on your feet' thing whilst commentating on the Spurs CL tie V Real Madrid. That's where I got it from, but if it suits your obsession with me to say I got it off Ferdinand, so be it. Not. Arsed.
