How to get paint off a car

T cut is quite abrasive, don't use it!!!!!

Use white spirits or methylated spirits with a soft cloth, and take your time.

t cut is not abrasive at all,for paint to stick proper it as to be keyed which it clearly as not therefore using t cut which is a very mild abrasive paste will take it off no problem without causing any damage to the original paintwork

T cut works in a similar fashion to rubbing compound, and as far as I know, and I've used it a fair few times over the years, it has minute particles within it to aid the removal of a minute layer of paint - if you are too vigorous with it, it will take off more paint than you bargained for, unlike white spirits which breaks up the fresh paint chemically allowing it to be mopped up, without damaging the original paintwork, which is much, much harder.

You might get good results with T cut, but as I said, one over vigorous go with it can cause damage - not worth the risk, and it's cheaper to use white spirits. I personally have had good results from white spirits with vandal spray paint, and fucked up paint work from trying to get rid of scratches which were too deep with T cut, so at least I'm speaking from experience.

I have been using some t cut and some autoglym sort of equivalent. I will try the white spirits tomorrow as well to see how that goes. How long should I work on an area for though.

How the fuck can you accidentally respray your car? Seriously mate I would take it to a bodyshop before you accidentally use a sander on it.

I have no idea, tiredness I assume, that or I am just a massive pillock.

What is the original colour of the car,and what colour did you spray it?

Update, it is not paint, it is primer!!! oh crap.

Well I am going to try and t-cut it, but if that doesnt work I have got a few cans of the exact colour spray from halfords so I will have to respray the affected areas.

Fuck me it gets better by the day. Whats underneath the primer. Is it the original colour of the car or as it been resprayed at some point. Its a long time since i was in the game but i would try thinners on a small area and see if it takes the colour away as well. 2nd option the finest wet and dry paper you can buy with fairy liquid rubbing very very gently again on a small area. 3rd option take it to someone who knows what he's doing.

It is the original ford sea grey underneath.

Iv actually turned my hand to spraying parts of my car. Apart from a slight shade difference, it turned out pretty well. I done it by watchin youtube clips . Have a look and see if you can find anything useful.

You need to do it for as long as it takes I'm afraid, took me a couple of hours to get probably the equivalent of a bonnet's worth off, but I cannot stress enough you need to do it NOW! The longer it's on the harder it is to get off!

Ill get some tomorrow. I have quite a few scrathes due to the abrasive cloth I used so will t cut them afterward I think
