How will we replace Yaya Touré?

We may already have his replacement in Seko Fofana. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk/Elite-Development-Squad/Midfielders/Seko-Fofana" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mcfc.co.uk/Elite-Development ... eko-Fofana</a>

Pogba is a good call though.

That said we have Fernandinho and we need another central midfielder of the quality of David Silva as a higher priority. Nasri just can't do the job on his own and we need fresh players when we get to February when we always have a mini collapse.

I'm sure i read somewhere he is going to retire from internationals after the world cup,if so we will get another 3 yrs out of him, plenty of time to bring a youngster through

I dont know how we will replace him but what I want to know will Pelle stick to the midfield duo of Fernandinho-Yaya as its not the most ideal duo for us. Both could improve hugely and also the team if they would get a third partner a really defensive one. We could actually see Fernandinho and Yaya both running at oponents without worry that we are as open as we are sometimes...

As Yaya gets older I think his defensive side will get weaker, and he has flaws in it even now. I imagine next season Fernandinho will have to work more instead of Yaya if this CM duo will be kept.

I know we cant sign Javi Martinez, but a CM trio of a deep sitting Javi Martinez front of defence with great passing skills, ahaead of him Fernandinho doing the role he was doing at Sahtar (box-to-box), and Yaya in a pretty "free" role sometimes even as attacking midfielder, well a midfield like that could be killer one.

Of course it would be a change to 433, and for that we would need goalscoring wide players, not Navas or Nasri/Milner type of players but more of Lavezzi/Reus/Sanchez type of players...

If we dont go down this way I hope Pelle will somehow solve the problems of being extremely open trough the middle as it puts lot of unnecessary pressure on the defence too and they cant cope with it. Maybe the way he wants to improve this is improving the defence what is agood idea on its own, but maybe we need more than that. Maybe exposing our defenders to less threat and at the same time improving the defence too with 1-2 signings.

Hopefully Fofana gets to the level we need

Good call, was just about to say the same thing. By the time Yaya is to leave we need to be bringing players through. We've not spent so much on the youth set up to keep breaking the bank. Fofana looks the part in EDS games. If he keeps on track I see a future for him in that role. Would like to see him next season in the CO Cup.

Yaya for the past 4 years has been bizarre in that he's simultaneously our best and most awkward player. When he leaves we'll be a more balanced side but also lack the best passer in the league and a midfielder with a genuine goal threat.

Imo we'll always perform under the sum of our parts with players like Yaya in the team. But he's such a good player that it's possibly justified.
