How would you describe your relationship with London?

I work in London around 3 days a week and work the rest from home in Oxfordshire. It's certainly close enough to go in for entertainment, sightseeing or shopping if needs or wants be but I can walk straight into the countryside from my house. Pretty good setup if I do say so myself - don't think I'd enjoy living in London.

There's plenty of countryside in London, some of it right on the doorstep. Hampstead Heath. Richmond Park. Epping Forest. More public parks than anywhere else in the country. Walk down the River Lea towards the Olympic Park. You'll see cattle grazing on the marshes and horses in the fields. It's in inner London but you wouldn't know it, it's not all bricks and mortar.

Hate the place.
1. London is the biggest cause of this countries woes, having both the centre of Political and Financial power in the same place.
2. It is also home to the vast majority of the countries selfish elites that only give a shit about themselves.
3. It's a fecking dump.
4. The locals are full of themselves.

One Chinese 5000 megaton ICBM should just about do the job.

And yes I am joking.
that said the amount of money required to rebuild London from such a debacle does however need to be spent elsewhere in the UK to get it up to scratch.

The last three years before I retired I worked there (the square mile) for a couple of days most weeks. I mainly loved it, particularly the energy and diversity and the quality of pubs, restaurants and theatres. Now when I'm down roughly once a year we have been staying in Kensington area as we usually are taking in something at RAH and we still love it. Only thing I hate consistently is the tube and the time it takes to get anywhere by car/taxi. I would certainly put it in top three cities in the world (that Ive visited). Couldn't live there though, makes Edinburgh look like a small provincial town.

Love London for a few days but fuck me I'm glad to get out of it
after that it's like a big sigh as the train pulls away relax wait for some fucker to fall asleep and give the shit bag a good slap happy days

Surprising number of people posting in this thread who don't like sophistication or culture.
Agree Chris, the museums and art galleries are some of the best in the world as is theatre, the music scene and eating out. Absolute highlight of my last visit was seeing Mark Rylance on stage.
