Thats a revision mate. That City squad retained all its world class players and also won the league the following year, after the manager was sacked. United’s squad had already started to decline a couple of years earlier. You could see we had over taken them when we beat them at Wembley in 2011. Obviously your last sentence is nonsense.

It is true look at the 1968 teams defense or the 1937 defense when City went down. Expecting City to win the league every year is entitled, especially retaining a title when we hadn't got close before, the best being Bell et al with 13th and they got a statue and retained all the top players. Learn some history of the club.

We finished 2nd, not a disaster, we signed 6 sub standard players, they signed RVP, and that was there difference. If Mu had got the same total in 2013/14 as they did in 2012/13 we would have fallen short then too, it was an easier ride in 2013/14 and they had completely fallen away and RVP was saving himself for Brazil.
 
Mancini gave us some of our most euphoric moments following the club. Winning a trophy for the first time in 30 odd years, the 6-1 and QPR May 2012.

If the club had stuck with him rather than sacking him in 2013. Would we have gone onto being on of the top sides in Europe and ultimately winning the champions league? I doubt it would have happened, he struggled to get City out of two champions league groups with some very good players at his disposal,

He fell out with everyone in the club, the Tevez situation could have been avoided and scrapping with players in training wasn’t a good look either.

He was the right person to break the trophy drought and win the league. He wouldn’t have got the club to where it is now, it’s notable that he didn’t get any jobs with any top clubs in Europe after he left City.

I don’t expect city to win the league every year but when they are the best team then it’s a reasonable target. The 2013 team contained zabaleta, Kompany, Barry, Yaya, Silva, Aguero, Tevez, Nasri etc all at their peak and was miles better than theirs which had aging stars, Phil Jones, Ashley young et. This was evidenced when we played them off the park at old Trafford even though we were 12 points behind. We were badly managed that season and put in some shocking performances in the league and in Europe, and hence the manager got sacked, and Ferguson rode off into the sunset with his legacy achieved.

“Mancini finished Fergie off” is the myth I am addressing here. It’s not true.

At that point, it was our best title defence.

In 1938, we were relegated and in 1969, we finished 13th.

IIRC Liverpool played before us almost every matchday in that run in which ramped up the pressure even more.
