HS2

You expecting hover cars by then?

Nope
Commuters will not have to visit the office as much With the advance in technology we will be working much more from home
HS2 is supposedly about releasing more capacity on rail. There is already a mass of space on trains to and from London. What you find is that at the most expensive times to travel there is an abundance of capacity and then at the reduced rate around "rush hour" the trains are jam packed
If they want to solve the problem of overcrowding, drop the prices of rush hour train tickets

As someone has already pointed out, HS2 will do very little to solve local commuter capacity issues and will not even scratch the surface of easing any pressure on our road network

Seems to be a very, very expensive fix which for me serves the south more than the north.

By the time it is built surely we will be using technology even more & not travelling for work as much e.g. Skype.

Spend money on local rail issues/overcrowding/ticket prices. Also on local/national road networks to reduce dependency on M1 & M6 particularly annoying if traffic delays are in place with little option to go a different route.
