They had enough time to fuck off instead of filming their dog doing exactly what the mother bear was doing.

Not their fault that they weren't trained, but not the bears fault either.

They were trapped.

I'm not saying it's the Bears fault what i'm saying is that if I had a big enough gun and I was one of the men I would have shot it in the head.

Kneeling down and being a martyr for nature isn't what I do best.

We can all twitch our head to one side and go !Awwww" when we are watching it on telly but if I went into Bear country i'd want to be tooled up.

Or just don't go into bear country to start with thus negating the need to be "tooled up". If a bear wanders into a City and mauls people then yes you can shoot them but you knowingly walk into a forrest where bears live then you are asking for trouble. If humans respected other forms of life instead of thinking we are untouchable then this wouldn't have happened.

If these 5 men were terrified and cornered by this bear then why were they videoing the whole thing? If I thought my life was in danger the last thing I'd be thinking about was making a video. They underestimated the situation greatly and thought it was amusing to their ultimate cost. They didn't deserve to die but you don't mess with wild animals.
It is possible to assume they only saw a couple of cubs and filmed the spectacle. You don't notice the big mamma bear until it crawls up the embankment, so they may not have seen her. Of course you can assume that where there be cubs, a mother will be but the likelihood of this could be that 40 seconds of negligence cost them the sensible assumption of that.

As I stated earlier, the video is not conclusive, but those blaming the workmen and dog should rewatch the video as the for the evidence we have available to us, the cub makes the first ''attack''. The dog did what most dogs would do. And then of course the incident escalates.

I'm sorry I really don't see your issue. I'm far from a tree hugger and I'm not a member of any animal charities all I am saying is treat dangerous animals with a bit of respect. If I knowingly jumped into water where Sharks hunt and got eaten that would be on me, If I jumped into a south american river I knew was full of Pirañas and got bitten that is all on me. If I knowingly walked into a forrest where bears live and got mauled to death that is on me. It's common fucking sense.

So we're not allowed to have roads, bridges, gas pipes or pylons in bear country everything is of limits ?

The way I read Randomj's point was, don't go into bear country unless you know what you are doing.

Or without a big gun and a Dog big enough to eat a Bear.

We are lucky that we don't have to wander into these types of dangerous environments in order to put food on the table.
About the most dangerous thing that could happen to me at work would be to put a 3-1/2" nail through my thumb or fall off a roof.
For some people it might be catching a cold from the office air conditioning, or a scalding from spilling their starbucks on the balls.

But if you know what you are doing you wouldn't need a gun nor a dog.
