Hughes Bought Injury Prone Bellamy Because......

EDIT: Incorrect info. He scored 4, definitely won us the 'Boro game but frankly I can't be arsed doing more searching! Couple in the UEFA and a couple in the league. Fair points RMB but I reckon Bellamy offers more than just being Hughes' man, and his attitude on the pitch did seem to give others a kick up the arse.

As for injury proneness, I agree 100%. As with RSC, if we sign him and he gets injured long term, Hughes has to take responsibility for signing players with bad injury records. I also agree that it was bad business not to have an alternative option of a big forward to RSC in Jan, BUT it must be taken into account that bringing in a foreign player mid-season isn't the best idea as it takes time to settle, and RSC was probably the only quality, prem-tested option available (I don't count Crouch).

ONE MORE YEAR!

Let me double check, but I think Bellamy scored 5 goals in 7 games and was therefore responsible for getting 6 points that dragged us away from the relegation zone at a time when we were struggling.

don't think thats what the OP was getting at.

Yeah because I'm sure that one word from Bellamy and the rest of the squad would blindly follow.

Bellamy 'Hi guys, Hughes is the greatest man to walk the earth since Kane from Kung Fu and Jesus Christ'

Rest of the squad in unison 'We've seen the light Craig, thank you for showing us the error in our ways'

City then went on a 20 match unbeaten run, winning the league and Uefa cup.

Hughes laughed an evil laugh whilst stroking Bowens head and Bellamy was rewarded by Robinho sculpting a statue of him in Brazil where Pele, Dunga and Kaka pray on a daily basis.

I don't really know about this long-running dressing-room & leaks issue. One day I'm inclined to take Hughes side, another the players, yet another day and... 'orrible willy warts all round. I was mightily suspicious in...November I think it was, after a week of particularly negative stories about dressing room divisions (IIRC the Elano-standing-outside-Hughes'-office-for-some time rumour was part of the milieu), when, as if by magic Ned and Dunne (Sweep as well?) gave interviews that made the dressing-room seem like a "place" of joy and wonders. Some acknowledgment about ordinary, everyday, interpersonal friction appeared in what I read, but the tenor of the pieces was "everything is A-O.K.". What made me suspicious was simply that Ned and Dunne, because of their reputations, would add credibility to any statement / interview that in essence denied there was trouble at th'mill.

No idea why he bought Bellamy outside of the ostensible reason.

He needed someone he knew would stick up for him, the whole team was against him. He wanted Sicknote Cruz to come in and tell everyone 'the sun shines out of Sparkys bumcheeks' but he couldnt get him so he settled for Craig, who admittedly has done well for us when hes been fit but I think its a sign of the man and his lack of ability to motivate the squad when he is having to rely on the purchase of 30 year old strikers with recurrent injuries just to bolster his position in the 'dressing' room.

As I say, nothing really wrong with Craig but im pretty sure he isnt the 'big man' up front we all know we need.....
I'm embarrassed to be a blue sometimes when I read shite like this.

I'll tell you exactly why Hughes bought Bellamy. It's because instead of players who couldn't give a shit and think being beaten 8-1 by Boro is funny, Hughes likes players that (a) care and (b) will tell the players that don't care that they're out of order, not sit there like a dummy, as Dunne does.

You really have become tiresome with these crap threads, why don't you shout in front of your camera again?

why dont you fuck off and dont read them then ? :)

to other people, im not slagging bellamy but hes not going to be any use to in the long term so I dont think he was a particularly shrewd buy, more of a case of bolstering Hughes' side in the dressing room than with a view to him being a long term solution to our striker shortage, I happen to like Bellamy and of course hes scored us crucial goals.

He bought Bellamy for the following reasons

1 - He was available

2 - He is better than our other striking options

3 - He would come to City

4 - Premier league experienced

5 - Hughes knows him as a player

No big conspiracy, I doubt Bellamy was the man Hughes wanted above all else but he was available, we needed someone so we bought him.

I was no fan of Bellamy prior to his move to COMS but his performances and goals suggested he was a good buy.

I know he's injury prone etc but his recent injury is not a recurrence of an old one so it's harsh to blame Hughes for being short sighted on this front. Shit happens.
