Hughes future being considered.

I'm NOT his BIGGIST fan at the moment but I do understand that he would need time to bring his own ideas to the club and 6 months aint long enough, I also think he deserves something for keeping S.Ireland at the club.
... if we were heading in the right direction, then maybe I would be a little more patient, but this guy has lost to Brighton and Forest in the same season - that is not heading in the right direction is it?

Yes he makes mistakes, he is still a very young Manager, but could turn out to be a gem.

Remember how close Taggart was from the sack all them years ago. A late Mark Robbins goal apparently saved his skin.

I am sure you have all heard the Dippers moaning about some of Benitez's team selections last year and resting players.

This year he now has a stronger squad (which is what we should have by Feb) and they are top of the league. Also note they have been without Torres for most of the season.

No I don't get putting Fernandez on the left etc, but he SHOULD have cover in all positions come Feb.

Have I bought him a reprieve???
But Taggart wasn't losing to Brighton and Forest in the same season - he was at least treading water - we're sinking pretty fast.

I sincerely hope this is not true, it would be a retrograde step imo. What does fit is that Bridge is onboard, and this may have been ratified by another manager who also knows him well - this would apply to SWP and TBH also (all ex-chelsea), and maybe why the big money move for RSC has not yet materialised. Mystifying. But this is City after all.

That's been my point from the very beginning (I just haven't beat the drum about it, and slagged Hughes off at every opportunity, because I have a serious problem with some of our squad), i.e. September 2nd.

The only name that could offer instantaneous critical mass (sufficient to overcome our inertia), could actually attract players on the believable promise of CL football soon, could actually help reduce (not eliminate) silly wages, is, imo, Jose. If Jose could be tied down to summer, and a caretaker (with Joses approval and consent of course) was put in charge, this could attract players now, and during the rest of the season.

Thing is, but a couple of days ago Jose seemed to make his most definitive statement since he began playing the media in October: he is staying at Inter, and intends to see out his contract. Well, we'll see.

I was told that City were already talking to Mourinho about a month ago. Ajay has also posted about this too. I think Mourinho is a possible but not whilst Inter are riding high. Didn't Mourinho have a pop at Italian football recently and intimate that the Premiership was the place to be?

When Ajay posted about Jose, he said that Mourinho had approached City. Fascinating. Mourinho has had a lot to say about the Italian media, why Serie A is not watched and enjoyed by as many as enjoy the PL, why some people consider Italian football boring (he said it may be a coaches dream, tactically, but as a spectacle it could be downright boring, and "we" - the Italian managers association - ought to just own up to it, and people in England won't stand for that style of football: something he has been accused of practicing at Chelsea, and I took that as a nod to his critics in England, i.e. I get it). He was publicly chastised by the president of the italian calcio for speaking (out) in an undignified manner, he's had a lot of flak from Inter supporters and so on. He has said he wants to come to England, and also he intends to go to Spain. He's accused some players in the PL of diving...it all keeps his name in the press. His very forst remarks about comng back to England where in October (I think), but they were unsolicited,....hmmmm. He does not have the money he wants to spend. He's not the centre of the footballing world. Mancini was fired because he couldn't get Inter european success, that's what they are expecting from Jose. That is why he is there, no other reason. I think the chances of him going to United are zero. Who is AF? God? He speaks and it comes to pass? Jose Mourinho will not make a name for himself at United, and neither will anyone else. Anyone who goes there is on a hiding-to-nothing. Anyone who thinks the old Scots whinger won't be sticking his oar in even if he retires is smoking illegal. AF just came out a few days ago, praising all his back room staff, saying how wonderful they all were. Take that anyway you want, I know how I would take it if I was a prospective manager. Then there is the issue of transfer funds...United? Jose? I think Chelsea gave him a taste for large funds and City can more than match Chelsea. At City Jose would have the opportunity to create his own history, rather than be a footnote to Bacon Face. Is there more glory in raising a club like City to the highest levels, or keeping Man Urinal ticking along? I'm sure opinions will vary.

I hate this comparison with Baconface. Face facts Fergie had a track record 2nd to none when he took over at the swamp.

3 SPL Leagues
2 SFA Cups (Inc a double)
1 League Cup
1 ECWC
1 European Super Cup

Promotion to the SPL with St Mirren

Not to mention breaking the Old Firm

Hughes's record although good for his level (Euro Qualification, 3 top 10 finishes, 3 semi's) isnt in the same leage.

Forget Fergie!
