Hughes OUT

Who is they?

If people put half as much effort into supporting the side as they do in "I told you so" posts after our first win in weeks I doubt we'd see another atmosphere thread.

You'd think people would just be happy with the return to form.

Sour grapes. If people put as much effort into supporting everyone at the club instead of slagging off the manager and undermining the team...

So let me get this straight... all the criticism is undermining the club. Yes?

And when was the criticism of Hughes and his managerial regime at its strongest? After the Hull City game.

So the critics undermined the club to such an extent... they then went and beat Arsenal and Chelsea!

I doubt if logic was your strong point at school, eh?

Maybe you should be thanking those critics... for focussing the manager on getting it right!!!

I think it was fortuitous that we were playing Arsenal and Chelsea in the next games where it was a big game and the pressure was off by the 'expectation' to win not being there.

Your kidding yourself if you think the criticism only started after the Hull game, I would say it started after the Wigan game and has got steadily worse since then.

To try and take credit for our victory through knocking the players and manager continually is laughable.

Had the mood on here been reflected at the Arsenal game a defeat was almost a cert. Players struggle to express themselves and play to their best in front of an overly critical crowd. In fact its one reason why we have struggled against Burnley and Hull imo.

Most people don't have an issue with people expressing their views it's the hysterical nature and extreme views after a poor game that I'm afraid end up making certain posters look ridiculous.

Okay then I'll accept your point that the criticism started after the Wigan game and then got worse.

This obviously had a traumatic unsettling effect on the team... we haven't lost a game throughout that whole period since then!

The point I'm getting at is... stop blaming fans for the inadequacies of players or coaches or managers or directors or chairmen. They're all big enough to look after themselves without fans looking for scapegoats amongst their fellow fans.

I've never picked a team, never selcted the tactics, never bought or sold a player.

I only pay my money to support the club, and criticise when I think appropriate.

Just like fans have done for a hundred years.

It makes me cringe when City fans start blaming the terrace fodder for the failings of the professionals.

I take your point but I personally think that you are perhaps underestimating the part supporters play. Of course, you could argue to what degree we can influence things but I don't think you can dismiss our influence completely.

I've no doubt that the fans can have a positive impact on the team - otherwise players, managers, chairman would never make reference to support. 'I could point you to a number of quotes only this week that our own players made of our support and how it helped.

If fans can have no impact positively or negatively then no one has ever adequately explained to me why in the vast majority of cases a teams home form is better than their away form. If the terrace fodder make no difference what else do you put it down to ?

Equally, the 'opinions' of a fan can undoubtedly influence and you could therefore argue contribute to the decisions that owners and chairman take - in effect the fans making decisions by default. This is why imo Newcastle always seem to fail spectacularly with their 'Geordie' obsession, If Liverpool fans turn against Rafa do you think he will keep his job ? Most people - whilst they might deny it - understand this hence why some on here are so keen to voice their opinions. - its when these opinions transgress from the forums to the stadium that problems imo negatively impact the team on the pitch. This might be controversial but there are reasons why people are brickies, shelf stackers etc and not running multi million pound organisations and some fans need to recognise their limitations. That's why I believe fans can negatively impact the running of a football club. I would rather trust the people in charge - particularly with the owners we now have - to make the right decisions armed with 'all' the detail that we can't and don't know.

Blue Moon and the stadium on a match day are much more enjoyable places to be when the mood is positive. We all want the same thing so the least we can do on a match day is put our differing opinions to one side and back the team.

I was really pleased to say that we did this against Chelsea and Arsenal and I'm sure everyone came away from the stadium buzzing about the result and the atmosphere - That's the way it should be.

Ha ha...! nice work! ...bumping this thread is totally justified.

the shite that was being said was an absolute disgrace... and those of us "small minded happy clappers" who were showing patience with Hughes and the players, are fully entitled to point the finger at the small minority that ought to hang their heads..
And yes.... anyone is entitled to criticise poor performances and question tactics etc..
but when it comes to the "get rid of the clueless welsh prick" and the "overpriced twat of a defender" type of crap...its a different thing altogether...
The fact that it was comin mainly from nomarks on this forum and not at the matches speaks volumes...

...I'm sure this won't be the last thread to be bumped...! and no doubt expose a few two-faced unfortunates..

bravo.

here,here.

People need to learn the difference between support at the match, and words on an internet forum.

It is interesting though, I was led to believe that everything was fantastic and it was only the deluded who expected better than we were getting pre Arsenal match.

Now I learn that it is in fact posters on bluemoon who are responsible for our poor performances and results.

Still if it makes some happy to tell the world "I told you so" after a couple of good games "proving" them right then who am I to judge. Im just happy with the return to form.

yeah, I agree...theres a huge difference between support at the match, and words on an internet forum..
..the main one bein that, on the whole, they come from entirely different people..
I've not heard one Hughes out chant since he took charge... no doubt there's been the odd lone voice now and then, but nothin like on ere...even then its a clear minority.

Those on here who Showed support for Hughes and the team pre Arsenal, obviously did not think everything was fantastic, they were merely showing patience.... and no doubt expected better in the near future

As in most cases, the opinion of the many is usually the right one, so there's nothin to be proved right about, and no "world" to tell "I told you so" to..!

someone said to me that hughes has won him over the last two games because we have stopped playing long ball football?

hughes outers, instead of judging on a game by game basis, look at the over view of the season, how we are bang on target, in the top 4 if we win our game in hand, our first semi for 28 years.

however, if we dont beat bolton, we will have more of the same after the match on saturday
