I've always backed Hughes. I don't see anything that he has done that merits his sacking.
That aside, I, and lots of other supporters on here, remember the days of Swales when we were sacking managers left right and centre, which ultimately led us to the 3rd tier of English football. We had, was it 5 managers in one season! Whatever the number, it was a farce.
Anyway, the point I'm making is I think a manager needs time. It is probably a reaction to all the comings and goings we have had over the past 20 years or so. All those managers coming and going did nothing for us apart from take us, ultimately, to places like Blackpool and Colchester!
We had financial restrictions, in house political skullduggery, I remember all that, but in all those years of strife, and let's remember the emotional stress of life in the 3rd division, I yearned for a bit of stability.
Hopefully, stabilty is now the order of the day. And nothing would leave me more depressed than if we start sacking managers again, like we used to, because a couple of results don't go our way.
There is'nt too much to be depressed about at the moment. A semi final, 6th in the league, an improving team, and for the first time in decades, real hope that this will be our year. Maybe it will be, maybe it won't, who knows, but I for one appreciate the measured attitude of the people running the club. They are taking the long term view, and that suits me just fine.
The short term view has left us in the shit for decades. Let's go with the flow, and if we lose or draw a few games along the way, so what, it is a definate improvement on anything we have seen for 30 years.
