Mark Hughes says he has held talks about extending his contract.

What do you think to this?

I'm behind hughes (just about) but it's daft. Fair enough he needs time but he's got a 3 year contract and if we don't see big improvements next season then he should be gone.

I've got a feeling that the contract will remain pretty much the same (salary wise) for the next two years, and if he still merits being in the job in 2 years we will be up there, so he will get a big pay rise then. The extention is more of a public backing IMO, because you can't argue with a new contract and may stop the bullshit being written in the press.

spot on.
good to read though as stability is what we have craved for years.
he still has to deliver though.

Im quite releaved actually, don't get me wrong, I have slated him in the past like really slated him. I can't help but feel that this is a step in the right direction though, if he gets signed up it can put and end to people complaining about him and let the team focus on football more rather than their manager. Also it will prevent us being in the same poisition next season with a new manager, let him have his own squad and we will be sorted.

I don't particularly like Hughes any more, his interviews irritate me more than anything.

My head says give the man another season, my heart say get rid, he's clueless.

agree with de niro, we need stability. anyone who thought he was getting sacked after a season in charge is clueless.

Even if the owners do want to keep him on next season, giving him a new contract now strikes me as totally unneccessary and a touch foolish.
