Hughes

He saddled us with a squad full of players, 75% of whom are nowhere near good enough for where we want to be.

It will take another £250 million to kick us on to be good enough too.

The likes of Santa Cruz, De Jong, Barry, Zabaleta, Bridge, Wright-Phillips, Toure (maybe Adebayor) etc, all his big money signings, are simply not good enough and that's without mentioning those who have been and gone.

It depends what you mean.

Santa cruz I agree and Toure we paid over the odds (due more to our status than Hughes)

But Barry, De Jobg, Bridge,SWP and Ade are ALL good enough to get us in the top 4 surely??

I am still struggling with the RSC think. Everyone knew he was a crock, not least Hughes. Just absolutley stupid.

BB is right. It was definitely the wrong decision to get rid of Hughes. Mancini's 5 losses (and getting knocked out of both cups) compared to Hughes' 2 losses is just one of many reasons why, but he's gone now and it's time to back Bobby. Stability is key to us doing well.

The passion he showed with Gollum has gave me a better feeling about him too.

I'm not after an argument at this time but how can you say categorically that it was the wrong decision?
1. Stability is what we needed.
2. Two losses is very good.
3. Always looked like we had goals in us.
4. Exciting football.
5. Bellamy, Tevez, Given, de Jong etc...
6. Improved on nearly every result from the season before.
7. Semi-final of the Carling Cup.
8. Had some rotten luck and still managed to only lose two.
9. Hated Fergie and was the only manager I've seen beat him at his own mind games.

That last one was just a personal favourite of mine, there is a load more too but it's late and I'm tired.

Mancini has his positives too like improving the defence and one or two others but it's hard to say it was the right decision. It has been really hard/boring to watch some games under Bobby and he has had some luck.

As I said though I'm 100% behind Bobby now, just think it was a bad decision to get rid of Hughes.

1. Better results was what was needed, and better results is what we've got.
2. Two losses is very good. But the leagues not decided on number of losses, it's decided on points. And we've improved under Mancini in that regard.
3. We've failed to score 3 times under Mancini. Hardly a draught.
4. Exciting football at times. I personally don't like the excitement of conceding 3 a game.
5. You expect sone good players with the money we spent.
6. You expect improved results with the money we spent. Especially when last season was such a let down from the season before.
7. Great run, beating Arsenal kids the best of the lot
8. See point two. Not sure how you work out the bad luck angle (while saying Mancini has been lucky - personally think Mancini has been very unlucky with players
missing during his few months at the club)
9. Beat Fergie at mind games? 0 points from 3 matches suggests otherwise.

It's my opiniom that it was a brave, and the correct decision. Only my opinion though.

Some of the stuff under Hughes at home was brilliant, especially last season. But I, and many others were looking beyond that and thought he was limited and we'd never be the great force the owners (and us) want with him in charge.

Mancini might NOT be the man, but I've got more faith in to do the right thing tactically. He didn't the other night which dissappointed me.

Not long to go until the end of the season when all will become clear.

Look, I was one of the most vocal Hughes supporters on here but he's gone now. Time to try our best to get behind a manager who quite frankly I can't fathom. I don't think he has a fucking clue but I'll give him next season to prove it.

I think Hughes was taking us the right way but it's too late. The management panicked and jumped the gun.

Fair comment, but I don't think we'd be fifth if Hughes was in charge mate. There's away games we'd have lost and home games we'd have drawn.

It's taken for granted now that Top 4 is the aim but we were scraping Top 6 under Hughes.

I appreciate it's unfair comment though as we can't prove it.

..The thing is we have been up there all season..I think the lowest we have been is 7th?..maybe wrong tho...WE had sum bad games under Hughes and we have had sum bad games under Bobby..The team will always put in 4 good games but we will always have that one bad one.. Overall the season is an improvement on last year..Just beaten in the semi's by a last minute goal..I think people expected us to be 1st or 2nd this year..Thats not gonna happen..First we must learn how to kill teams off..and not lose at teams like Hull and draw at Bolton..Until this, City are where they are because of this...TRICKY GAMES TO COME.. Wigan,Burnely,Birmingham,West Ham....These are the games I dread....Should beat them..but never sure are we...

I'm gutted Hughes was sacked, i reckon if we'd kept him we'd have won.........
The Premiership
Champs league
The Boat Race
The Grand National
Rugby Grand slam
Gold at the winter Olympics
The dog and duck dominoes trophy, etc etc etc

Just wondering how you reconcile the improvement in our league performances with your opinion that one manager was the way forward, and one "doesn't have a clue".

He must be doing something right surely?
