Hugo Viana | Director of Football

I'm sure he has a lot of qualities but I think the main one he has right now, through none of his own doing, is emotional detachment to the squad.

It's allowing him to come, diagnose key areas which are issues and deal with them without any loyalty to the player(s) he's replacing and/or selling.

Liking the start to his reign so far.

In fact I doesn't appear like Pep wanted any of the January signings. You can see it from the way he talked , the club got me young centre backs , the club said they needed Marmoush etc .

Then on the offensive lately saying he doesn't want all these players, that his team are incredible in training etc

It isn’t about targets though we have to shift enough players to have room. Thats why I think it will be 2 mid too fullbacks and any keepsrs. That will be fine with what we already have

Seems that Simmons is not joining because we're going for Cherki instead. We do need a winger who can actually score because our current wingers are horrendous. Imo Savinho needs to be sold because he's not even good enough to warm the bench at City, should be used as a package to get Rodrygo Goes.

To fulfil Pep’s smaller squad desire, we’ll have to sell/loan out 10 players.

Savinho got the joint 4th most assists in the premier league last season with a lot less minutes played than those above him and level with him. Given it’s his first season I think that’s something to build on, although he does have a lot to improve on

There may be arguments about Stones, Kova, Akanji, Ake, Bernado, both wingers, Gundog, Khusanov, Reis, Nico G, MacAtee, and a couple of new grads from academy.
MacAtee has opted to play for Eng U21 rather than go to Club World Cup.
Sell on clause for Delap worth £4million on Chelsea’s bid.

When the window opens you would expect to see action pretty quickly if Viana has been doing the ground work
