Hull v City Pre Match Thread

Huge game no excuses we beat them with 10 men last time around and convincingly at that.

Each game is different of course but this would be worse than the Stoke result in may ways if we are to come up with anything but three points.

This is a bit off thread, but you've got to smile at the way Pellegrini handles journalists in the press conferences. It's an object lesson in stonewalling. Politely but firmly, he just tells them nothing! I detected a twinkle in his eye as he was doing it. It's almost become a sort of game between him and them.

He might as well finish it off after giving an update on the injuries.

The one minute conference because its all we want to know to be honest.

It is a game and I suspect that the injury update question might take a back seat in future press gatherings.

Time to get the league form back on track. Hopefully the midweek win will have given the club a bit of a lift, after the recent so-so run of results. A steady, solid 2-0 win will do nicely today (Kun and Yaya).

Expect it to be a good game, they are not bad a team but we should win comfortably, by the way anyone know if it's on in town, was planning on watching it in Fallowfield but fancy the food festival after, tib st & the green showing rags

Seem to be conceding at least one goal per match in the league at the moment, so will go for 1-2 or 1-3.

Better to start out strong, get the job done, then sub after 60-70mins than be chasing the game away from home, hostile crowd getting on the refs back every time we make a challenge, home team using delay tactics to break the game, better to be a few goals to the good and just pass them into submission.

I'd go

Hart

Zabaleta
Mangala
Kompany
Kolarov

Fernandinho
Toure
Milner
Silva
Navas

Dzeko.

I feel playing Mangala with Fernandinho just in front of him will allow us to move 10 yards further up the pitch and allow our front 5 to run rampant in their half.

If we turn up with the right focus and attitude I can't see anything other than a resounding win.

That's a good point. I noticed against Chelsea we were pressing higher up the pitch, it could mangala is the missing piece that allows us to implement effective pressing.
