Becoming a common theme in these type of tragic cases. Poor little lad.

And most criminals are known to the police.
But they continue to offend.
Social workers can't watch at-risk children 24/7.
Ever considered blaming the folks who killed him instead?

But their job is to protect these children who are in danger that's what they are employed for!!!! If I failed in my job there would be complaints left right and centre and rightly so. Being a social worker must be incredibly difficult but at the end of the day they chose to do it!!

Social workers, particularly those working with children, have the job from hell.

If they took all children potentially at harm from away from their parents we would need holding centres the length and breadth of the country.

I used to work in Social Services and the vast majority of the staff I came into contact with were dedicated, hard working, professional and under appreciated and under rewarded.

Why does it make their job harder? They chose to do a very difficult job and when they fail it makes headlines, if I make a mistake then the FCA may write to me it's no big deal but I am accountable just as social workers are

The fact that this poor boy seems to have come to harm at the hands of his mother while being known to the social services has nothing to do with the social services, and everythjng to do with the mother. To even think otherwise or seek to put the blame for it on well meaning professionals is hugely out of order imho, and has got my back up.

Vile.

You are an utter simpleton who is unable to grasp simple concepts.
As such, I won't even bother trying to explain in future, and shall let others tackle your inane worldview.

Think you have misconstrued my comments. I'm not blaming ss for his death, he appears to have died T the hands of his mother which is tragic. But ss are supposed to protect children in danger from this?

-- Sat Jan 18, 2014 8:34 pm --

I find your comments offensive sir!! If social services are visiting the family because there are concerns then they should be accountable. Alternatively explain to me what the role of a social worker assigned to a family is???

They simply can't be there 24 hours a day. If they've missed obvious signs of serious long-term abuse then it's fair enough to point the finger. But it might be that someone snapped for just a minute and the outcome was the sad death of that little boy. Or even that someone turned their back for a minute. Until we know more, it's just impossible to say.

Yes of course, your right. We should have a dedicated social worker living in every house on their case load. My mistake.
