Hurricane Ian hit Florida Wednesday 28th Sep !

It was nice knowing you all......
I've got 5 days left on Blue Moon and to listen to The Smiths & Morrissey.....
Petrol stations are emptying fast so heading north isn't an option (and where do I go anyway?) So just going to rough it out....
Been in Florida 7 years and this looks like the biggest hurricane to hit since then.....

This is the last thread I will ever start.....
To you all...... the pleasure, the privilage was mine......
Isn’t that like saying ‘rain in Manchester on Wednesday’?
Man the fuck up you massive femidom, tis but a fresh breeze

I'll get @Barcon to round everything up for.me.

Just saw this bit in the link @SebastianBlue sent

"Some evacuations were ordered Monday in coastal Hillsborough County, home to Tampa"

I'm in Hillsborough county but about 30 miles from the Hillsborough's coast (which is all inland on the bay) and a further 10 from the actual Gulf Coast,
Hopefully it's not as bad as up here on the east coast.
Just got word from the wife's cousin out there. He lost at least 50 trees but thankfully his house is still standing.
No power and doesn't expect it to be back for at least a week.
He has a generator but only one gas station open and had to stand in line for 4 hours to fill up his cans.
And he's one of the lucky ones.

Remember the right hand quadrant of a hurricane always produces the strongest in the winds, so as Ian runs parallel to the west coast of Florida, anywhere from Naples to Tampa will be getting hammered by the strongest winds. Also worth pointing out, the number 1 cause of death from a hurricane is drowning, not the wind/debris. With this in mind, and the path of Ian and how slow the system is forecast to move, a huge about of water and storm surge will inundate the Gulf Coast. I think the worst effected area will between Cape Coral and Punta Gorda. If anyone lives near to the sea linked waterways and canals, I would be evacuating and moving personal belongings to higher ground.

Probably nothing in comparison, but I’m in Gran Canaria at the moment, and we’ve just been battered all weekend with constant rain and winds,on the arse end of an African cyclone.

Not too much a case of battening down the hatches, but it’s certainly not geared up for the amount of rain that’s come down this place-fucking cursed me when I come to the canaries, pissed down in Lanzarote for a week back in March.

Hope all fellow blues stay safe in the states over next few days

Just heading to Orlando airport from Clearwater, quite busy, I think a few people are heading out of the State @Mad Eyed Screamer called in at Ybor, think that’s in your home county, had lunch in Gustav’s Garrison, fascinating little town.
Yes you were in Hillsborough county. Glad you made it to Ybor (to anyone else reading, it is pronounced E-bore)
By the time you read this you will be back in Blighty and a few thousands of miles away from the hurricane! Glad you all had a great time.
