I was going to say this to you earlier, but just remembered your post, then decided to check my answer before confirming what I thought...

Around that point the general wind pattern switches from the tropical trade winds, which blow out of the east, to the prevailing westerlies of the mid latitudes.

I flogged all my vinyl when emigrating..... it's all on an ipod now!

Tampa is warm and dry..... for now..... tomorrow will be a different story :(

I had a cam 3 hours ago of the very southern tip, as in you could see the very last bit of land from this cam. It was getting pretty choppy, dunno if that helps with your plans. Here are a few more cams i found...
