Huw Edwards - 6 month suspended sentence (pg 107)

Like Schofield this **** has been living a lie if he gets his rocks off by fantasising over young boys regardless of age. If someone is gay that’s not a problem but he’s married to the mother of his five kids, not many take her or Schofield’s wife position into account. She should fuck him off, what an absolute thunder ****, perverted twat.

I've no idea in this case, but often in these sort of situations the wife is entirely aware of what is happening.

What business of ours is their relationship?

Newspapers have outed people for decades,it’s what they do,it’s what they claim as being good at,not so much these days with most being on the internet, but it’s what sold copies of their productions for donkeys, some on here don’t seem to understand that.

If you were born and brought up in an era when the newspaper was the only way of finding out “news” then you’d understand

But this guy, rightly or wrongly, has done bad, been busted and now the inevitable happens in this modern day and age.

Most knew who it was so called for the last 4 or 5 days, now it’s out that’s that.

People are making assumptions the photos are from a young boy ….have I missed something?

Maybe he’s been fighting his sexuality for years and that’s led to his depression….I don’t know or care

Tomorrows fish and chip paper for the nation, other than his wife who will no doubt be left to pick up the pieces

Can anyone explain why this was a story to start with or is it all part of a Murdoch agenda to try and ruin the BBC? I am pretty sure that there are plenty of married men who are doing exactly what Edwards has be accused of, it may be immoral and ethically wrong but it isn't illegal and the other party seemed to be very happy to receive the money.
Good point. I'm not defending the alleged behaviour of Huw Edwards but I bet if The Sun were approached with this exact same story about a Sky News presenter they'd have swept it under the fucking carpet!

Regarding fantasising over youngsters, the only thing that’s been established as fact is that the two biggest defenders of the Sun’s story, Harry Cole and Rod Liddle, have previously publicly fantasised over underage people.

I've not bothered with other media outlets so couldn't comment but Sky News have been absolutely revelling in the BBCs discomfiture. Their glee has been palpable.

"there is a pretty reasonable argument that reporting that is in the public interest", that is something I will never agree with. Pre-internet I wouldn't even be aware of this but the monster has to be fed apparently.

That's a fair position to take but I don't think it will ever be the case that sleaze from public figures is not reported on.

To some degree, that is what they sign up for and the price of fame/the huge rewards they enjoy.

In fact, not behaving in such a manner is something that their employers and the people that givevthem such rewards also expect of them. David Mellor, many other mps, Jamie Theakston, Frank Bough and many others found out that their employers also (at least temporarily) considered their behaviour a serious matter, not just the media.

And there is a good argument for having some sort of implication that, as a public figure, you do not fall into disrepute is a good thing. Especially in the era of scumbags like Trump and Johnson trying to degrade public standards.

It is also worthwhile stating that many people who are not in the public eye and wouldn't make the front pages - eg judges, doctors, teachers, etc - would also find their profession and reputations in serious jeopardy if caught in the same position as Edwards, even without the media coverage.

If that’s the case I’ve no sympathy for either of them but the collateral damage here is a kid who got his hands on a substantial amount of money and developed a very expensive and damaging drug habit, Edwards is an absolute wanker.

I have no idea who those two are.

Seems there’s a few assumptions in there.

The only thing that seems to be fact is that he’s legally paid for some erotic pictures off the internet of an adult that could be male or female.

A little bit seedy but is it really anyone else’s business other than his missus?
Equally, that's an assumption that the other allegations are going to be unproven. And also that he has paid thousands of pounds expecting just a few Polaroids.

And, yes, as a public figure, even that is always going to attract attention and have consequences, as he is intelligent enough to know. A Councillor, doctor or teacher would also be sacked or have their reputations ruined by being caught in the same position, without the press coverage. Should that just be their family business too?
