Hyped transfers who turned out to be garbage

Benjani apart from the goal of his shoulder against the rags i'd say he was a poor buy putting money in the Redknapp Rosie 47 account...
Danny Mills the money grabbing cnut stole a wage from our club...

Mpenza played a very large part in keeping us up in 06/07 bud, hype fully justified imo. Jesus of Nazareth couldn't have scored as many in that side.
Well you have to realise that I was imagining the pretty much fictional Emile Mpenza of Championship Manager 01/02, from when I was about 13, so there was really no way he could have ever lived up to the hype I'd put on him in my mind. He did score a couple of crucial goals and did alright considering the circumstances, but I was expecting a footballing god, when in reality it turned out he was a decent yet unspectacular player very much past his peak who could do a job. Childhood dream colliding with reality more than o erhyped failure I suppose

For me personally it would have to be Fernando, remember watching him completely boss zenit for porto in the CL and thought he would be a great signing. Was wrong about.

Was excited about Javi Garcia as well the way benfica fans went on him. Looked like he couldn't kick a ball for us, although he did improve towards the end of his final season playing alongside fernandinho.

Two good shouts right there.

Neither fall into the utter garbage category, compared to say John Macken. But equally they both cost a lot of money and we had such high hopes for both.

I'll whisper it quietly, but I'm with you
How can he be such a great player if we got relegated twice with him in the team?
He also couldn't get in Ajax's team, played for an average Derby County, then a load of clubs nobody has ever heard of.
