Still alive here....
This looks like it could be a good film.
The story of Forests rise from lower division strugglers to the best team in Europe is full of fairytale stuff. At the time i was a kid in Nottingham and would toddle off to the City ground now and again, although i can't remember much about the players.

Daniel Taylor has a good piece on the story here.

what Brian Clough achieved in his career eclipses bacon faces achievements by some way , sick of hearing how bf is the greatest manager of all time etc etc . Clough took Derby County ,a mid table second division side and got them to a European cup semi final , he then went one better with Nottingham Forest and with some fairly average players , odds n sods and misfits and turned them into one of the top teams in Europe with none of the financial advantages Ferguson always had , good to see with this film the man getting some credit , absolutely criminal given that he would have walked over hot coals for the job that he never got to manage England

And did one thing Bacon couldn't do - retained the European cup.
He was a very dodgy penalty decision given in Madrid away from reaching the final with Derby.

I am looking forward to this.

As a 23 year old I can't quite get my head around somebody taking a second division side to promotion to the top flight then winning the league in that next season followed by back to back European Cups in the space of 4-5 years.

It would be like one of Bournemouth, Watford or Norwich winning the league this year and winning the Champions League back to back in 2017 and 2018.

Can anybody tell me if the likes of Robertson and Burns would make one of the top sides now?

Was Shilton better than Hart?

Not sure we can compare car park skills...

Living in Nottingham I would like to see this film. The fans are down to earth and I would love to see them in premier league again.

Difficult to compare outfield players, as the game is so different.

To me, Shilton is possibly the best keeper I have ever seen, bar none.
Burns was a tough tackling defender, who in the present game, would have a record worse than Cattermoles...but for his era, he was quality.

In Cloughs biography, there is a great piece about Robertson...when he first seen him...
Along the lines of...
" scruffy Overweight beggar standing with one foot on the ball, hand down his shorts, and a cig Hanging out his mouth....everyone at the club told me to get rid....but there was something g about him....
3 years later he scored the winner in the European cup final!!!"
Genius

Shilton is a hard player to judge as he played before the pass back rule was introduced.

Sorry Ray but what the Fuck has that got to do if he was a good keeper easily in the top 6 England keepers.

Shilton would be incredibly shaky with the ball at his feet imo. Keepers at this time are required to be comfortable on the ball.

Garry Birtles could probably score more goals for the rags now than Rooney can muster ;)

I'd say Shilton is ahead of Hart..... he won 125 caps at a time when Clemence also won 70 odd.
