I am not sure any footballer should be knighted at least not based on footballing ability. Still Giggs does lots of charity work, is rarely controversial, won lots including player of the year etc, longetivity is almost legendary, dedicated professional and role model. He started off at City and I am sure that if he had stayed there for 20 odd years quite a few here would have a different opinion of his merits.

Giggs let his country down on numerous occasions. So for him to be recommended for the highest accolade for services....to his country?!!....is ridiculous in the extreme.
Time after time after time he would pull out of a Wales fixture with a phantom groin strain or hamstring pull....only to magically regain fitness three days later and speed down the O/T wing.

As a previous poster has stated, for Bob Paisley to never recieve a knighthood - a man who was dignity-personified, who won every honour going, and remained a true and gentle man throughout - was, and is, a disgraceful oversight.
