I finished my PhD thesis (and passed the viva!)

Re: I finished my PhD thesis (and submitted it!)

Having lived with such a thesis for 3 years myself, I know the extent of the weight that has been lifted.

Just the corrections and the viva now!

It made me into a Dr Dr !

Well Done indeed, mate.

EDIT: You have now joined the illuminati and you will live forever.

Re: I finished my PhD thesis (and submitted it!)

Good luck PD - once you get going, you'll be surprised how it flows.

Cheers too Mammutly. It feels a bit anti-climactic so far, and slightly weird that I don't have to do any writing/editing this evening. Glad the damn thing has gone though!

Hey, now I'm one of the Illuminati, does that mean Buzzer1 will come and expose me as one of the reptilian baby-eating overlords?

It will all become clear at the viva.

There's a reason why only people with a PhD can judge others fit to enter that society.

;-)

See you at the next skin shedders ball, bro.

I'll have to buy myself a good quality golden blood-drinking goblet, just for the occasion.

Re: I finished my PhD thesis (and submitted it!)

Congratulations. I hope you get what you deserve. Never done anything like that myself, but first job was in a college looking after PhD students and i know the hard
work that goes into a thesis.

Re: I finished my PhD thesis (and submitted it!)

Very well done. Having read and thoroughly enjoyed 'The Commonwealth of Thieves' and 'The Fatal Shore' I have developed a thirst (metaphorically speaking) for all things surrounding Early Colonial history of Australia. It would be fantastic if the fruits of your labour got into mainstream print. I'd dash out to buy it.

Re: I finished my PhD thesis (and submitted it!)

Been thinking about this since you first told us. Thanks for the update!

Cheers bud. I've got a second meeting with someone from Allen and Unwin - one of Australia's biggest publishers - later in the month, and they seem interested. I'll let them know they have one potential reader at least!

Brucie - please excuse my vainglory. Next update won't be until I've got the big red cloak on ;-)
