As people may/may not know I'm a firefighter and we have been taking industrial action over our pensions etc the new fire minister had promised and agreed with many of our points and for the last 3 months we have he called off industrial action to have what we believed constructive talks, where she would eventually come back with revised proposals. Over this period of time there have been many big things going on such as the NATO summit in September which if we had been on strike would have affected it. Fiy she met with our executive council for crunch talks yesterday and the final outcome absolutely nothing has changed the proposals from the last 17 months stands, no revisions absolutely fuck all.
Well that's the final straw, I can guarantee now the gloves are off and don't be surprised strikes over the bonfire period, you make not like that but at our busiest time lets see how the country copes with a vastly reduced fire service, this government is taking the piss out of all good honest tax paying people and they can now stick it up their arse I'm done with been nice.

Support you all the way mate. If it's not the teachers, then its the council workers, civil servents, NHS works and the police. Its clear that there is an an agenda with unions why would you have an independent review then reject it and goad people in to strikes disgusting. I can't remember in my lifetime there being so many different strikes than the ones that we have had in the last few years.

This thread just goes from one side of the net to the other, batting the subject like a demented Chuckle Brother in a game of "to me, to you".

Can we just all agree that Firemen are *cunts, totally work shy, clinging to an ideal from another era and devoid of any real idea on how the world works these days* and move on?

Agreed?

Excellent. Thread ends.

*Replace this bit of the sentence with lovely, hard working and at the forefront of a modern and forward thinking ideal that will save us all.

Child poverty in the UK soars to over one in four due to "austerity"
Urmston must be proud
Show me a child starving to death in England. This 'poverty' bollocks is just not hitting the spot amongst those who work for a living, if it's supposed to spur us all into revolution. It's time whatever ludicrous yardstick is used for measuring this was adjusted to encompass the real world.

The simple facts are that the gap between the have's and the have not's is getting wider at an faster rate than in recent history, and the number's of working poor is also escalating, you are not the only one that works for a living, but just maybe others think that EVERYONE that works should be paid a LIVING wage by their employers, not the very basic topped up by hand outs from the tax payer (which of course rules out many that dine at the top table)
